Description
Odyssey is a small family run brewery established in the rural surrounds of a National Trust estate in Herefordshire in 2014. We brew in a building that is at least 400 years old but our beers are modern and forward looking.

Because we are small, independent and committed to staying that way, we focus primarily on only two styles of beer - hop forward (of any colour) and big, indulgent stouts, with the occasional Barley Wine thrown in for good measure. Our hoppy beers are unfined and hazy but we seek to retain some bitterness and drinkability - East Coast brews with a West Coast vibe.

All of our beer is produced for keg or can.

(Cask at Rake, Borough, London, 26 May 2022) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of fresh coffee, black bread and cacao. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, chocolate, black bread and a balanced coffee bitterness. Medium body, with a certain milky sweetness. Tasty and well made porter with a fresh coffee touch. Very nice.

Black beer with a thick, dark brown head. Smells of toasty malt and treacle with a little something of a smokey barbecue. Flavour has a little anise, dried fruit, treacle, brown sugar, lots of malt, a bit of chocolate, coffee and spice. A dash of smokey bacon. Lots going on, plenty of body, nice and smooth and too drinkable for the strength by half.

Keg at Heidrun, HW, 15/10/22. Hazed yellow to golden with a good sized white cap. Nose is mellow tropical fruit esters, melon, grass, citric tinged straw, tangerine. Taste comprises grapefruit zest, melon, light pine nip, tangerine, papaya, soft malts. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spiked with balanced juice laden hop bitterness. Decent enough IPA.

On keg @ Brew Boys, Dartmouth, 11/08/22. Appearance - pale yellow and quite cloudy. Big white head. Nose - orange and mango. Taste - dried thatn nose suggests, the mango being more like mango skin and the orange being a bit more zesty. Palate - light bodied, dry finish but decent persistence. Overall - decent flavour punch considering the low ABV.
