36th CAMRA Cotswold beer festival (July 2012) in the lovely 15th century Tithe Barn was the setting for my tasting of this beer. Gravity poured pint: dark amber/brown body with a tan coloured head of foam. The nose was semi-sweet molasses: chocolate and toffee esters mostly. The taste was also semi-sweet with the dark chocolate and toffee from the aroma coming through again, add some liquorice and caramel into the flavour stakes and a smooth body feel and you’ve got a very drinkable Porter in your hands. This was my last beer at the festival and although my taste buds were most likely not at their best: this beer certainly was.

Bottle from The Hop Pocket, Bishops Frome, Herefordshire, consumed Sunday 12th August 2012 Difficult to be sure of the colour as it is quite dark outside now, however hazy amber and a real volcanic gusher out of the bottle, I thought it was going to be sour but absolutely not, it is anything but, and is sweetish, fruity and quite tasty even a little bit of Cornish vanilla ice cream in and amongst. Quite smooth, another decent beer from the Gloucester brewery. A6 A3 T7 P3 Ov14 3.3

Bottle from The Hop Pocket, Bishops Frome, Herefordshire. Consumed WOMAD Festival, Wiltshire, Saturday 28th July 2012 Pours dark brown, watching a band with a beer in one hand and a bag in the other and therefore difficult to rate so much of this done from memory 30 mins later. However what I will say is that this is another very decent beer from this brewery, I really have been pleasantly surprised. Has a nice fruity bite, good bitterness. More good stuff from Gloucester. Bottle from the Hop Pocket, Bishops Frome, consumed in a field at Truck Festival, Steventon, Oxon Friday 20th July 2012 Pours a very hazy first piss of the day colour but with a large foamy white head. Soft in mouth, perhaps with a little sweetness but nice underlying bitterness. Nicely fruity and a much better than expected UK golden beer. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6
