Not good. Sweet, corn-laden front end underlined by notes of apple and wort, followed by a medicinal bitterness in the finish and a funky, unpleasant fade. Pretty rough pint of a rather spotty style.

12oz can. I have never had a great American Belgian stout...and still haven't. Awkward yeast tones, right next door to infected. Not that enjoyable.

Tap at Munkle. Chestnut amber body. Rye sort of takes it an over the top sweet direction, too many unfermentables perhaps. Drinkable, but sort of tastes like Homebrew.

Funky, cheesy sour notes, eaten up body. Decent enough flavor, but sort of an amateur production.

Tap at Munkle. Filtered looking brown body. Sweet, sugary, some pungent Belgian yeast. OK.

Odd beer. The modest Belgian esters provide an underlying fruitiness, and chocolate and roast are on the forefront, along with a moderate salinity. Finishes with a lingering saccharine bitterness; almost tastes like sugar-free dark chocolate at times. Muddled, not great.

Dark brown color with a sweet, raisin, chocolate aroma. Taste is woody, nutty, earthy, slightly sweet with an earthy, floral hop bitter balance. Smooth and easy for the abv.
