Description
Former name: "Bateleur Brewery".

Based in Kedong Valley along the edge of the Great Rift Valley escarpment in Kenya. We are an independent brewery with a goal to produce the best craft beer we can. All hand forged in Kenya using only natural ingredients while running on 100% renewable energy.

From the beginning we have brewed all our beers using biofuel. Our electrical energy is sourced from geothermal power. All our bottles are returnable and used multiple times to ensure minimal waste. Our bottles are washed using heat from a biomass boiler. Our spent grain is fed to rescued animals at our animal shelter. Craft beer can give back too.

We also protect thousands of acres of forest and are reforesting areas that have been damaged by excessive grazing and hacking.

From Trapped: pours copper with white head. Aroma is malty, lightly hoppy, sort of metallic. Taste is a bit thin. Low sweetness, some bitterness and some metal.

Bottle, from Village Market, Nairobi. Pours clear reddish dark amber, large foamy light beige head, coffee-caramel aroma, medium carbonation, bitter coffee taste over caramel background, thin body, long bitter finish. A strange brew; coffee has not worked well in amber ale.

Bottled 330ml. -courtesy of Marko, thanks. Unclear orange coloured, small to medium sized white head, weak fruity nose. Sweetish malty, watery, weak fruity and touch of spices with light acidity in the finish.

0.33 l bottle someone broughtfrom Kenya, thanks Marko! Murky golden, no head? Aroma is sweet fruity ester, might be banana, more like a random candy. Light clove phenols appear. Sweet, estery, fruity flavour, a bit fake, something slightly tart. Light body, soft to moderate carbonation, light finish. Empty.

Bottle, huge thanks Kerefek! Misty amber-orange, off white head. Dusty, mildly tart, light cloves, red apple esters. Taste, citric-orange, wheat malt, dry, lean, with mild tartness coming on. Pretty refreshing but... Definitely not a Weissbier, closer to a wit. Okay, not more.
