Draught at Lord Hobo, 9/19/15.
Rather murky, thoroughly cloudy cherry-red liquid has a bit of initial pink-flecked beige head that fizzles away to nothing.
Straightforward cherry juice in the nose, with perhaps a bit of brett-like acidity though it’s difficult to tell due to the obvious freshness of the cherries. Not much in the way of maltiness in the nose, though it’s not undermalted or anything. Perhaps some wheat in there? Whatever the case, there’s a somewhat nutty, maybe chalky/mineral note to the beer (very well could just be all the whatever in solution). No alcohol noted.
In the mouth, the cherries come forth most prominently of anything. Tart yeast/bacteria acids peek out from behind the cherries but never really develop too deeply. Seems like a lot of the reason for this is the huge amount of sediment which really adds a lot of chalkiness and heavy blandness to the beer, severely dampening the brightness of it. Low to moderately low carbonation, watery/slick texture and no alcohol noted. Nothing offensive about the beer, and the cherries are done admirably, but just needs to rest for longer or be cleaned up somehow; way too much stuff in solution here.

I’m going to go right ahead and say let’s give up on the beer brewed with wild yeast from fruit. I’ve now had Vinland 2, Vinland 3, Flor Z and this, and while this was head and shoulders above Mystic’s, it still left alot to be desired. For starters, it ferments the shit out of the beer, leaving it with an overly light, very thin body. Then, there are plentiful cidery-like notes, a fair amount of acetic acid and a good dose of strange spicy phenols. Add to this a very fizzy carbonation and I’m left wondering why people keep trying to do it This one had some enjoyable lactic notes, as well as the remants of a good malt base, but in the end, it’s just too cidery, borderline astringent and lacking in any real malt complexity. Smells pretty good though, nice and sulfury!

Bottle shared at the WWWW Mid Atlantic Summer Beer Tasting. Hazy straw, large fizzy white head, good retention. Aroma of pale malt, strawberry, hay, citrus, pepper. The taste is tropical fruits, strawberry, pepper, pale malt. Medium bodied. Yay, Rhode Island beer for 10.6K!

Very nice. Orange hazy pour with good lacing. Sweet and sour finish. Great balance. Some orange aroma. Good stuff. Bottle.

Bottle at the RateBeer WWWW Tasting. Murky yellow with off-white head. Aromas of citrus, floral, stone fruit. Tastes of floral notes, citrus, stone fruit, light Brett. Light body with a dry finish.

From a 75 cl bottle at the WWWW RB tasting. Pours a murky pale gold with an off white had. Funky citrus nose, Flavors of caramel and white wine. Smooth finish

Fresh bottle, hot off the shelves here in MA. Finally tracked down a god damned beer from this brewery and it did not disappoint. 22 oz bomber drunk 8/13/15.

Well, Ive definitely realized I dont like Galaxy hops, at all. The nose isnt so problematic with them, though the white peach and ripe apricot gets a bit punchy. In the flavor, however, while the hops arent resinous, theres still a shitload of some compound that, in large quantities present in these type of beers, really gives an aspirin-like flavor and also coats the mouth with a weird capsaicin-like lingering character. 20 minutes after finishing the beer its still here. Anyways, back to the beer, its very, very, very similar to Galaxy Dry Hopped Fort Point. Clean, wonderfully-textured, attenuated, supple malts comfort and balance. Lots of strong hop flavors, quite delicious even in spite of the galaxy hops. Still think Mr. Hill is doing even cleaner, less punchily/messy hopped pales up there, but this is certainly fantastic and only a slight tier below his better/best stuff.

Deutlich hopfiger, minimal säuerlicher Antrunk. Vollmundig hefig und bananig, etwas fruchtig, hell, etwas dumpf. Süffig, mittellanger Nachgeschmack. 9/8/9/9//9
