5 oz half pour draft at Oak & Steel in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is an opaque black with a dark tan head that fades fast. The aroma is initially a big bourbon barrel, the oak wood, cane sugar and the warming rich malt of the bourbon below and all around. The taste is rich cane sugar caramel malt, moving quickly to the boozy bourbon oak wood. The palate is medium to heavier bodied, low carbonation, a viscous mouth feel and bourbon and wood to the hot finish. Glad I had a chance to try this one, miss you Pathlight.

50cl bottle pour a clear gold. No head. Nose has flowers, green grapes, green apples. Flavor has much of the same, acetic on the back end with a little salad dressing thing. Meh.

Tulip glass draft at Rye in Leawood, Kansas. The pour is a clear golden with a one inch well formed white head. The aroma is yeast esters, some lime straw and floral. The taste is clean Saison, straw, herbal and ester yeast. The lime citrus is nicely accented throughout, didn’t really pick up on much Rye. The palate is medium bodied with natural carbonation and a clean yeasty finish. Standard Saison that is well made.

Draft full pour at Pathlight Brewing in Shawnee, Kansas. The pour is a clear golden with a small white head. The aroma has lemongrass right away, very bright, followed by Thai spice and a nice lemon citrus. The taste starts with the rice lager, adds on the Thai, citrus and lemongrass spices and finishes cleanly with a pleasant ginger aftertaste. The palate is light bodied, bright carbonation and spice ginger finish. Fun beer, well executed.
