The company was founded in 1957 with the construction of a brewery in Gisenyi, located at Lake Kivu. Since 1971, BRALIRWA Ltd is part of the internationally renowned Group Heineken which holds 75% of BRALIRWA Ltd shares while the 25% remaining shares are hold by independent shareholders. As a socially responsible company Bralirwa Ltd supports a variety of projects from Education to Health and Environment.

Bottle sample: Clear, bubbly pale gold with a small white head. Malty, watery, grain aroma and flavor. Slightly sweet. Grass and straw notes. Plain, but nothing offensive. fairly decent.

Bottle (courtesy of Travlr and I am assuming Nathan - huge thanks as I don’t think I’ll be able to get to Rwanda in the next couple months). Sour barley malt aroma. Medium yellow with small head. Lightly sweet lemon, barley malt, and grass flavor. Actually quite impressive given the origin.

Bottled 330ml. -Darker amber coloured, small to medium sized off-white head, sugary nose. The taste is sweet malty and also quite sugary with notes of vegetables and hint of metal in the finish.

Bottled 720ml. -Yellow coloured, big white head, light acidic corny nose. Malty, light bready and pretty sweet taste with minimal hops presence. Short finish. Drinkable but weak.

Bottled 650ml. -Pale golden coloured, medium sized white head, dusty grainy nose. Some sweet malt, grain and corn with light hoppy notes. Light bitter finish. Drinkable and not so bad as I’ve expected.

33 cl bottle muled by Nathan the Former Star Intern, thanks! Clear pale golden yellow color, fluffy white head. Aroma of cardboard and straw. Taste is minimally bitter. Easier to drink than water.

Clear brown cola colour, no real head. Sweet malty sugary aroma, over-ripe fruits. Malty sweet flavour, butter, some banana. Finish harsh bitter roasted malts.

33cl Bottle brought from Ghana, brewed in Rwanda. Clear light brown/amber colour, off-white head. Aroma of sewage water, skunk, grain. Flavour is sweet, candy, cheap alcohol, grain, skunk, light sour metallic finish. Light-bodied. Very bad.
