Rating number 1000. December 2006 25cl bottle. Pitch black with a thick, creamy and long lasting light brown head. Intense aroma, oak above all, with much vanilla character. Plums, dates and figs. Some alcohol gives it some bourbon after a while, and portwine is also in play. The flavour has all that barrel character plus the full blown impy stout richness. Rather sweet but balanced by some hops, the dark malt bitterness and some alcohol. As it enters the mouth, oak and vanilla dominates, then comes some fruityness along with warming alcohol, and perfection is reached with the long lasting black aftertaste of espresso, charcoal, licorice and dark chocolate that sits in the mouth for a long time.
Hyped beers demand extra concentration when drinking, which in turn may give a great beer an even better rating because I pick up all of its complexity - my first Westvleteren 12 took an hour to drink, and this will also last. But they are hyped because of their qualities in the first place, and this beer is worth all the attention.
Re-rate same batch, March 2010: Has held up perfectly. Still the same balanced and complex beer. I’m not regretting the 5.0
2009 vintage at Boreft Beer Festival, October 2010: Much rougher and with much more Bourbon character, this was only a 4.3 experience. If you get your hands on a bottle of 2009, age it a bit.

Colour: dark brown with a light brown head. Overwhelmingly complex and very distinct aroma of chocolate, sweet tart, campfire roasted marshmellows. Flavours of chocolate, coffee, wood, sweet tart, some dried fruits, cognac and port. Alcohol is well hidden. Exceptional. Rerate: bottled, thx to caesar. Incredible long, smooth and balanced aftertaste of dark chocolate and dried fruits. Very happy to be able to sample this one again.

Bottle 2006. Opaque color, short brown head. Aroma of dark chocolat, sweet, oak wood, port, candy. Quite unique to find this combination in a beer. Very strong and complex taste of chocolat, port wine, cognac, slight alcoholic, hint of vanilla. This definitely beats a Westvleteren.

Bottled. Slightly hazy golden body with a fine small white head. Aroma is dominated by citrus and grapefruit. Flavor is citrus, grapefruit and orange. Quite light body, very refreshing, simple in a way but just delicious a warm summer day.

(Draught at The Rover) Shady amber color, fluffy white head. Faint hoppy and fruity sweet scent. Nice fruity citrus hoppy bitter taste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium high bitterness. In a blind tasting I would have guessed this to be an American Pale Ale for sure.

Bottled at the brewery and draught at The Rover, Göteborg. Clear deep golden, average head. Rich aroma of tangerine and wild strawberries. Sweet and medium bodied with soft mouthfeel despite crystal malt profile. Richly hoppy and with an interestnig, peculiar flavour from the Green Bullet hops. Lingering really bitter finish.

2005 bottle Black with an ok head. Aroma is dark, bitter chocolate with notes of liquorice. Flavour is bitter, oaky, somewhat harsh and salty and in the background lurks a growing honey sweetness. Complex.
