On tap at The Rover, Göteborg. Dark chestnut colour, nearly ruby when held to the light. Amazing aroma of smoke, bonfires, seaside, tar and woodwork - but not the smoked sausage aroma of German rauchbiers. Smoke and tar in the flavour too, slightly drier than I would prefer, dusty / ashy finish. Not much else going on besides the smoke and tar.

On tap at The Rover, Göteborg. Amber colour, moderate head. Initially a strange aroma of sweaty socks, then some grapefruity hops come through. Flavour is malty and somewhat alcoholic with raisin notes. Quite sweet, more of a barleywine style.

On tap at The Rover, Göteborg. Copper coloured, low head. Nice nutty and hoppy aroma, notes of toffee and grapefruit. Hoppy flavour on a decent malty base, grapefruity elements, "dusty" hops in the finish, bitter aftertaste. A bitter well above average.

Draught. Dark copper coloured, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is strong smoke and burnt wet wood. Same in flavour along with tar. Long smoked aftertaste. Reminds of the Schlenkerlas, but still not as "heavy" as those.

Bottled. Opaque black, not much head. Strong aroma of expresso coffee and dark chocolate. Cold coffee flavor, easy to drink, a bit carbonated and roasty in the finish. Good balanced porter.
Earlier Rating: 11/6/2005 Total Score: 4
Draught @Pikkulintu
Opaque black-brown color, mostly disappearing tanned head. Flowery hoppy nose. Medium-bodied, hoppy, chocolaty roasted flavor. Excellent: balanced and enjoyable as the most Närkes brews.

Draught@The Rover. Dark ruby brown color, small creamy brown head. Strong smoked ham nose. A bit sweet roasted and smokey malty flavor. Much lighter than Scherlenkas. Fizzy finish.(8/4/7/3/14 3.6)
Draught@Beer Hunters
Deep ruby brown color, small beige head. Strong peaty smokey, wet wood aroma. Light body for this ABV. Front has some caramel, but otherwise dry peaty maltyness dominates. Scotch type, not Bambergian. Aftertaste is dry woody with lots of tannines. For smoke/peat heads, not very balanced. (8/4/7/2/13 3.5)
