Description
Visit the world’s first LEED certified microbrewery housed in a refurbished historic funeral home in the East Hills neighborhood. Live the Bon Vivant with neighbors, brewers, and monks alike enjoying rustic farmhouse inspired beers alongside European inspired cooking from our scratch-kitchen.
We are excited to share our passion for beer, food and sustainability with you. Much of the inspiration behind Vivant comes from the small breweries that dot the countryside in Southern Belgium and Northern France. Often, those breweries are true beer artisans who are also an integral part of their community. They experiment with unique yeasts and local ingredients, always with an artistic eye to their creations. Sourcing ingredients locally makes their beer pair exceptionally well with a meal of locally sourced produce, meats, and cheeses. Brewery Vivant promotes living the good life by brewing farmhouse inspired beer, serving a from-scratch menu, and building a sustainable community one beer at a time.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 3/27/2018. Pours fairly crystal clear deep golden amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, apricot, red apple, pineapple, mango, melon, papaya, berry, white grape, citrus zest, light pepper/pine, honey, biscuit, light caramel, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, light musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/light funky yeast, citrus/tropical hops, and moderate bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, apricot, red apple, pineapple, mango, melon, papaya, berry, white grape, citrus zest, light pepper/pine, honey, biscuit, light caramel, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, light musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness; and Brett tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, apricot, red apple, pineapple, mango, melon, papaya, berry, white grape, citrus zest, light pepper/pine, honey, biscuit, light caramel, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, light musty funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/light funky yeast, citrus/tropical hops, and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/tartness balance; and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness/tartness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, fairly sticky, and slightly acidic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 7%. Overall this is a very nice Brett IPA. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky yeast, citrus/tropical hops, and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mellowly tart/bitter/drying finish. Very well balanced between Brett and juicy hop complexity; nice malt backbone, but not overly sweet. A very enjoyable and well made offering.

Sampled from the tap at Logan's Alley. Pours a near clear amber with a near white head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has lots of grass and earthy pine with straw and a hint of tropical fruit backing. Flavor has grass and pine with some grains, tropical fruits and straw backing.

Aromaz are mostly chocolate malt and a little Bourbon and vanilla. Flavors are like nose with the bourbon and roast coming on much stronger in the Finish. Very smooth velvety texture.

Pours deep maroon into a snifter. Pink head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Funky cherry and oak aromas. Sharp with sweet cherry and funk upfront turning dry in the lasting lacto funk finish.

Likely draft, unclear in my notes. Clear(ish) amber body, medium dense off-white head. Clove and pineapple esters in the nose. Grainy, toasty body, with pine, clove, and a peppery spicy bitterness in the finish. Light and refreshing but not much oomph.

16 oz can. Pours a clear deep brown with an off-white head. Ripe dark fruit aroma. Raisin and molasses flavors, red apple, bourbon working in with some vanilla flavor. Pretty tasty, really, but very sweet.
