Description
Three Sisters Brewery has been brewing commercially since April 2017 after winning the first Taranaki SOBA Homebrew Competition in 2015 with 'Rain In The Face'. In 2020, Joe and Sarah started a PledgeMe campaign and got to move their operation into the beautiful, old "Taranaki Savings Bank" building on the main street of New Plymouth.. Old TSB to the new TSB... We thought it was very fitting...
In 2021, Three Sisters Brewery received the New Zealand Brewers Guild "Champion Micro Brewery" award, and with another successful PledgeMe campaign increased capacity by 12 times at the bank, expanding into the neighbouring premises.
More success followed, winning BGNZ Champion Small Brewery in 2022 and then back-to-back Champion International Small Brewery trophies in 2023 and 2024 at the Australian International Beer Awards, the largest of its kind Worldwide and perhaps the most prestigious accolade a brewery can win!!

440ml can. Pours a dark clear brown with a very small off white head. Aroma is mild brown malts & a bit of hops. Beer is light, just off dry with the amber malt base making it smooth and flavoursome with mild hop bitterness.
Fine bitter style beer but at $10 for a can of self described "ordinary bitter" at 3% it is simply poor value.

28/12/2024. Bottle courtesy of Gus, big thanks! Region #481. New Zealand region 15/16. Pours clear pale gold with a frothy off-white head. Aroma is peppery, citrus, lime, soapy, herbal. Quite sweet with moderate bitterness and a slight tart edge. It’s okay and certainly does what it sets out to do.

Can. Clear orangish amber with a good cm of white head. Aroma of citrus-sharpened tropical fruit, light bread. The balance is more towards hops than suggested by the aroma and bitterness is medium high. Pretty good.

Can, as Passion Smash, 6.9%. Opaque brown with a cm of white head. Aroma of guava, peach, some lime, passionfruit and pineapple. Fruity with the vague, sludgy palate that you often get with this sort of thing before a finish that's cleaner & modestly bitter with some herbal astringency.

Bottled. An unclear yellow beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of hops, exotic fruits, straw, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of exotic fruit, hops, malt, and straw, leading to a bitter finish.
