(Bottle 33 cl) This beer was so busy getting out of the bottle that I lost about a third of it before I could even have a sip. What a waste. Dark, almost opaque with a brownish head. Notes of port, coffee and dates with some underlying malty sweetness. Reminds me of some of the dark trappists. Lovely. 140702

(Bottle: 33 cl) "Blond" they say, but it’s not particularly blonde. More along the lines of what I usually refer to as fully golden. Delicious, creamy head. The aroma is malty, slightly like iron and with a nice fullness. Quite carbonated. A decent blond ale, but not insanely exciting. 050103

A light yellow beer with a huge white head. The aroma is a boring malty one. While the flavor is dry with notes a straw and the body is thin.

A hazy orange beer with a fine white head. The aroma is yeasty with notes of citrus and hints of caramel. The flavor contains yeast caramel, and spices especially coriander. The end is dry.

Clear yellow color, short near white head. Skunky aroma of faint hop, metal. Taste is sweet, corn, bit malty. Brackish aftertaste.

A red-brown beer with a huge light brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted bread and yeast. The flavor is also sweet with notes of roasted malt and caramel.

Part of a double test. Tasted as "Karl Pils" (bottled) and "Premium Pils" (sic- canned) with identical labels, very much alike to Karlsquell pils label. Both brewed for Match/Profi a.o. by Martens. I’m convinced they’re identical, despite the differences indicated below Karl: Very clear gold, medium off-white head, not persistent. Premium: Very clear, pale gold; good off-white head, leaving lace. 4/5 Karl: Chaff, whiff of sewage or puddled rainwater. Premium: Chaff, bit yeasty. 4/10 Karl: Grainy, rather sweet taste. Premium: Dull, grainy taste, livening up in the finish. 4/10 Karl: Very light, powdery, some carbondioxide titillating. Premium: Very light, powdery, carbondioxide titillating. 2/5 Karl: Dull pilsener. Premium: dull pilsener 8/20 I think they’re the same. The can seems to keep it better. Or do I like the dissolving metal coating?

Pale blond body. White head, mostly diminishing, fairly lacing. Hoppy aroma. Flat flavour, lightly bitter in the beginning.

Ligth yeasty aroma. White frothy head. Normal blond body. Light bitter flavour, little bit salty in the finish. Watery texture, flat mouthfeel. Dish-water.

Pale straw colour; very huge head, ever so slightly yellowish, quite lacey. Very typical malt-cum-grassy-German hops nose. Not too bad, nothing daring. Typical German-style imitation. Flat, sweet malt flavour, with even some liquorice. Faint metallic tang in the palate, but always sweet. Watery mouthfeel, unsatisfying. Dreary supermarket Pilsener for the European masses wherever. Bweeuh. "Edelpils", my $&*!
