330ml bottle from Saveur-Biere.fr. Pours a slick black with brief tan head. Roasted malts and liquorice aroma. Concentrated liquorice in the taste with oak barrel hiding at the back and rum emerging as the glass warms. Compelling, but a touch too heavy and thick tasting for me.

Bottle from Ales By Mail; dark brown pour with a massive frothy tan head, aroma has milk chocolate, some rye spice and a hint of pine, taste has chocolate, spice, resinous pine, some roast and a hint of coffee.

0.33l bottle. Black body, massive light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, citruses, earth and maybe blackberry. Taste of chocolate, grapes, citruses and earth. A bit weak bodied. Very nice.

On tap at Patricks. An golden colored, lightly unclear beer with a fingerthick white head leaving curtains. It’s spiced on the nose, ginger and cardamom, with fruityness and some yeasty hints. Pale malts. There’s a decent bitterness in the flavor, along with the fruityness and spice hints known from the aroma. It’s full- to medium-bodied, semi-dry and a bit heavy on the carbonation. Long finish. A decent beer, but not very saison-ish I think. 150502
