Description
Founder Tsjomme Zijlstra's idea to start his own brewery came to him after his time in England. He started to brew his own beer at home and decided in 2014 that he wanted go bigger. He met Menno and John, owners of Brouwerij de Molen in Bodegraven, and told them his story. They taught him how to brew with one of their old brewing installations. Kaapse Brouwers was born.

We are Kaapse Brouwers. We are the brewers who introduced craft beer to Rotterdam, and Rotterdam to the world. With our Kaapse recipes we brew non-conformist beers. We choose for bold recipes and love to experiment with different flavors to create contemporary craft beers.

Black color with small tan had that becomes a ring soon. Amazing aroma with a nice fruitiness, apples, still an impstout feeling there. Taste is wine barrel, fruitiness (so many red ripe apples), hardly any coffee. Amazing wine barrel feeling, but the rest is not too distinct. The barrel just took over, but here it’s great! Smooth BA carbonation. A good one!

Very hazy brown-amber color with small head. Citrus hops, little malt sweetness for a barley wine. Berries as well. Taste is heavy on the hops, rich body, heavy and light at the same time. A very nice hop-emphasized barley wine! Fine carbonation.

Black color with a small beige head. Coffee and liquorice aroma. Taste is heavy on the coffee, stays dry, rich feeling, a bit milk feeling. Not boozy at all. A solid Imperial Stout!
