Description
Founder Tsjomme Zijlstra's idea to start his own brewery came to him after his time in England. He started to brew his own beer at home and decided in 2014 that he wanted go bigger. He met Menno and John, owners of Brouwerij de Molen in Bodegraven, and told them his story. They taught him how to brew with one of their old brewing installations. Kaapse Brouwers was born.
We are Kaapse Brouwers. We are the brewers who introduced craft beer to Rotterdam, and Rotterdam to the world. With our Kaapse recipes we brew non-conformist beers. We choose for bold recipes and love to experiment with different flavors to create contemporary craft beers.

Tap at Kaapse brouwers. Cloudy brown with small off white head. Sour grains and dough, pineapple, hay, funk, balsamico, red wine, red apple, berries, very herbal. Some malts with a strong roasted aroma. Quite sour with some sweetness and a bit umami. Medium to full bodied. Weird stuff, but not bad.

Bottle shared. Pours murky light brown with a cream head. Aroma of fresh citrus hops, peach, mango, soft orange and other tropical fruit notes. Flavor is light sweet and over moderate bitter. Light bodied with light carbonation. Not getting the bourbon BA but it’s a nice fresh pale.

Copper color with a white head with medium duration and good lacework. Aroma has notes of toasted malts, caramel and bittery oranges. Flavor has a good bitterness, caramelish and good maltiness. Good bitterness in the final with some astringent mouthfeel.

Thank you gentlefolk! 330 ml. bottle sampled @ Delirium Hoppy Loft. Drank side-by-side Regular & Oak-Aged version. Regular pours black, small mocha head. OA version is has noticeably less head, only a few non-lasting bubbles. Regular version smells like grainy med. quality coffee, bit thin, clear oats, touch creamy oats, sugar, grainy thin coffee. OA version is way heavier smell, thick liquorish all of the sudden dominates with quite a bit of varnish, cheap booze. Taste of Regular is a bit thin, grainy coffee, chocolate, bitter roast, light herbal, touch creamy oats, okay but not very impressive if not weak for the style. OA one taste like varnish (another bad BA job?), liquorish, cheap boozy varnish Rum or crazy varnish whiskey, sugar. Regular one is grainy body, roast, thinner with still oat creaminess. OA one is little carbonation, varnish boozy, bit thin. OA one is bit of a hack job in my opinion. Not a fan. 3.8 for the Regular version. 3.2 for OA version.
