330 ml bottle @ Bakgården Både &. Slightly unclear amber with a fine off-white head. Good aroma of citric fruity hops, malt, caramel and dry fruit. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, dry fruit, citric fruit, grapefruit, good bitterness and warming alcohol. Fine body and pleasant aftertaste. A solid beer, like it a lot.

Botella de 33 cl en el momento el 30-01-2015 en el kraken. Color negro con espuma beige oscura poco persistente. Aromas y sabores a maltas tostadas con toques abundantes de cacaos y lactosas que la suavizan. Ligeras especias y amargo al final. Bastante buena con un cuerpo medio de 9.8 vol que le dan buena sensación alcohólica. Para repetir.

BBE 08/07/15 - Pours pitch black with a massive thick brown head. Aroma of grassy hops, roasty malts, dark chocolate, rye bread, hints of coffee and herbal notes. Taste is roasty, hoppy and dark chocolatey with notes of rye bread, herbal notes and coffee. Finish is crisp, roasty and hoppy with hints of coffee and rye. Pretty good.

Bottle @ benzai. Dark brown colour with a small off-white head. Smells oud bruin (Heineken), sweet, malts, hint of liquorice. Tastes very sweet, malts. Quite meh tbh. Thin to medium body, almost no carbo.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus, Joes and Ansjelaah. Very dark brown to black color, small off-white head. Aroma is malts, rhum, raisins, something weird. Taste malts, rhum, bread, dough. Don’t like it. Disappointing.

330 ml bottle @ Kick. Almost clear dark brown body with a nice, dense and lacing beige head. Rather strong aroma of dark malt, medium roasted chocolate, coffee and medium fruity. Flavor is super smooth, dark malt, milk chocolate, medium roasted coffee, fruity hops and balanced bitterness. Fine balanced body, good aftertaste and good balance all the way in everything. A nice and easy drinkable, still flavorful black IPA that actually have some originality and a bit more modest in the pine flavor. Another nice one from Kaapse.

My first from this new Rotterdam-based beer company, which apparently brews at De Molen (creating high expectations somehow...). Labelled an "American bitter", this classifies as an APA and it is the first straightforward attempt at that style I encounter here in the Low Countries. A total of five hop varieties have apparently been used. Hazy orange colour with good sparkling, clouded brownish with deposit; head lightly yellowish white, rather thin (especially for such a hoppy beer) but nicely lacing. Very perfumey, citrussy hoppy aroma, like any decent IPA; impressions of fresh blood oranges, grapefruit peel, orange water and rosewater, sweet white wine, freshly cut red apples and dito pineapple, fresh ginger, redcurrant, mango, mint, hemp seed, pine needles, vanilla sugar... Fruity, rounded, crisp onset, soft ’citrusness’ from the start with a delicate, vanilla-like sweetness piercing through; medium carbo, slick mouthfeel, toasted nutty malts in the middle, more and more dry towards the end with a finish of resinous, utterly citrussy, complex, herbal and very floral hop bitterness covering some lingering nutty maltiness and quenching the thirst perfectly. Being much of a hophead, I was stunned by the downright beautiful aroma of floral and fruity ’fraîcheur’; this is a beer I could drink any day. Recommended for those into hoppy beers with average ABV, like session IPAs.
