Bottle courtesy of dad consumed at dads, Kilburn, Derbyshire, Thursday 15th January 2015. Lively pour, pours amber with a off-white head. Great nose, quite unusual, you think it’ll be hoppy and it is but with some lovely oaty flapjack. Lovely hoppy bite, warmth, fruity but malty and lovely yeastiness and spice. Great. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov14 3.7

Bottle. Black with almost no head, quite clear with some clumps of yeast. Chocolate pudding, old bread, old coffee, cognac, cake, light vanilla. Quite sweet with light roasted bitter finish. Full bodied with very slick oily feel and no carbonation. I liked the regular version better, and some carbonation would help here.

33 cl bottle marked Cat 5 and BB 8 OCT 2024, sampled on January 4, 2015. Thanks Ingo!Dark red to black color, dark brown head. Malty, grainy, light berry scent. Malty, berries, some alcohol, grainy taste. Grainy aftertaste. Warming alcohol. Medium to fizzy high CO2 to smooth mouthfeel, medium to medium low bitterness.

330 ml bottle thanks to Ingo!Read "Kaapse Brouwers Harrie Saison" also marked CAT I and 6.1% ABV, 53 EBU.BB 31/10/16, sampled on January 4, 2015.Hazy yellow color, fairly big white head. Sugary sweet, estery fruity, yeast, spicy, a bit phenolic scent. Yeast, bitter, phenolic taste. Sweet, yeast aftertaste. Fizzy high CO2 mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Also phenolic clove aftertaste.When yeast sediment is poured into the glass the beer turns more dry, gets more citrus, ends up less phenolic and less sweet. So with the last pour I enjoyed the beer better personally, more balanced.Score reflects my notion of the beer without sediment, more of first impressions.

Bottle. Golden pour, white head. Aroma is quite hoppy, with amarillo grapefruit and pine. Tastes fruity and hoppy, with the mild grapefruit again and also citrus and pine. The bourbon comes through in the finish, with a nice warm boozy vanilla. Balanced beer, not too outspoken. Again a good brew from the Kaapse.

Black color with a medium beige head that quickly diminishes. Aroma has notes of roasted malts with some sweet hints. Flavor is roasty, licorice and coffee. Slightly bittery in the final with a creamy mouthfeel.

Bottle. It’s a hazy one, brown in color and with a minimal sized beige head. The aroma is roasted and lightly smoked, with vanilla hints, dried fruits, caramel and some dried fruits. Alcohol boozyness too, but at a decent level. The flavor is quite sweet, but still feeling dry. oily and full-bodied. Caramel sauce, roasted malts, dark sugar and some woody hints. Lasting finish. Not bad this one, but sort of unbalanced. The alcohol level isn’t too dominant. 141220
