Description
Founder Tsjomme Zijlstra's idea to start his own brewery came to him after his time in England. He started to brew his own beer at home and decided in 2014 that he wanted go bigger. He met Menno and John, owners of Brouwerij de Molen in Bodegraven, and told them his story. They taught him how to brew with one of their old brewing installations. Kaapse Brouwers was born.

We are Kaapse Brouwers. We are the brewers who introduced craft beer to Rotterdam, and Rotterdam to the world. With our Kaapse recipes we brew non-conformist beers. We choose for bold recipes and love to experiment with different flavors to create contemporary craft beers.

Thanks to Rian for sharing. Nice fresh and floral in the nose. The beer starts floral with a not very deep mainpart. It ends quite fast. Hints of malt, nice bitterness but only very low. The floral aroma ends very soon as well. On the tongue remains a light and smooth bitter-style floral aroma.

Draught @ De Arendsnest. Sweet sweet cocoa aroma - feels like some massive American IS. Flavour has cocoa, vanilla, some raspberry juice(!) and ashy tones. Finishes with distant herbal tones and salty licorice. Quite nice and smooth actually.

Bottle @ home. Very dark brown to black color, average to medium sized beige to light brown head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is malts, lightly roasty, slightly sweet, oatmeal and I get a hint of vanilla somehow. Taste malts, sweet malts, toasted malts, a touch of caramel, nuts, oatmeal. In the finish a decent bitterness that lingers. Body is medium to full, texture is velvety to oily, carbonation is soft.

Very dark brown to black beer, big aery fizzy beige head, pretty solid, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: mainly roasted, coffee, caramel, whiff of citrus and some exotic fruits but it's drowning in the dominating roasted smell. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: very roasted, bit of caramel, bitter hops, some citrus. On warming up I get some more exotic fruits, but it's mainly roasted malts. Aftertaste: hoppy, bit sweet, roasted, some caramel, very bitter, dark chocolate, more fruity.
