Description
Burning Sky, a brewers dream. The dream of a long term brewer with a love of both punchy hop forward pales and of the beautiful Belgian beer tradition. A brewers brewery, we are fortunate to be blessed with a talented team.

Whilst industrial units are convenient, they seldom inspire, so we chose to locate ourselves within the beautiful and inspirational South Downs, occupying refurbished farm buildings in a slightly quirky village. A true farmhouse brewery.

Producing our first beer in the Autumn of 2013, we were rewarded far beyond our expectations – not just with a couple of orders but with Mark being voted ‘Brewer of the Year 2014’ by The Guild of British Beer Writers, and the brewery being named 4th Best New Brewery in the World 2014 by Ratebeer.

Whilst ambitious, we do not wish to grow out of, or beyond the buildings we occupy. Instead we are investing heavily in the areas that we wish to grow in. The first craft brewery in the UK to install oak foudres for ageing beers in, we have just (at the end of 2016), completed the restoration of a Grade 2 listed building to expand upon this and our barrel ageing program. The beginning of 2017 saw us install a bespoke coolship in this space – a traditional vessel used for cooling hot wort. We will be using this to produce spontaneously fermented beers.

And all the while that this goes on, we continue to refine and pay particular attention to our core beers, making sure that we (and you), have something refreshing to relax and dream with at the end of the day.

440ml can as part of a delivery from RAD Beer and drunk at home. Brownish Amber and clear with a quickly dissipating beige head. Toast, caramel, malts in the aroma. Pretty simple but gorgeous. Taste is out of this world. Sweet and bready with toffee and a slight astringency, which paves the way for a more balanced finish. Medium body with crisp but not overbearing carbonation. Impressive.

Can. RAD Beer. Hazed orange. Decent sticky white foam. Looks well. Nose has rye. Brett. Unripe oranges. Oak. Taste is dry tart and moderately bitter. Good depth with lots of flavour. Fine crisp fizz. Tart dry finish with a nicely zippy hop bitterness. Good gear. Very smashable.

Can, most likely from Middle Farm, cheers Si. Probably a 2024 brew. Nice funky aroma with heavy lemon side. Thin gold look. Taste is like light geuze. Good, a tad thin but decent!

Can, probably from Middle Farm. Fresh hoppy aroma. Quite thin with a fair amount of sediment. Classic session pale, dry hopped flavour with slightly mouth stripping bitterness. Decent.

Cask at The Crown, Eastbourne. End of summer eh - more like Christmas Eve, and thank god cus it delivers!! Hoppy nose, weak colour but gorgeous spot on pale ale NZ flavour with plenty of grass finish. One of the best cask ales I've had....noted that it was on sale in Spoons even - for that price, that's a steal!!

Can. RAD Beer. Mostly clear washed out gold. Slim ring of white. Nose has clean pale malt. A moment of butteriness. A minute worth of hop. Light and fairly clean. Non existent finish. Hmm.

Can. Rad Beer. Dirty hazed pale gold. Barely a head. Like Fergus I definitely get sour milk here. Weird. Some Citra. Not much else. Taste is sour and dry. Nah. Can’t drink it. Horrid.

Rødbrun med luftig hvitt skum. Lukter bringebær og noe krydder. Smaker bringebær, lyst brød og rips. Syrlig og noe tørr avslutning.
