(Can) Great looking beer. Pours black with good tan head. Pleasant aroma of roast malt, with some nutty and smoky hints. Medium body with good smooth and bright carbonation. The taste is that of a very nice porter, however the spiced rum is very subtle. Very pleasant.

(Can) Pours clear pale gold with thin short-lived white head. Pleasant aroma of citrus and pine. Light body and quite fizzy carbonation. Taste of a bit thin. There’s pleasant refreshing fruity tang at the start and some bitterness in the finish. There’s some peppery and sherbet hints. Not bad but not great.

375ml can into shaker. Pours a pale hazy amber with medium carbonation and a large fluffy white head. Distant aroma of passionfruit, pineapple and (perhaps) lychee. Effervescent, light body. A little biscuity malt in the middle but more tropical fruit to bring it all home. Super easy-drinking, refreshing quaffer.

Very hazy gold beer, tidy white head. Crisp semi dry palate. Light pale malt. Minerals and a trace of orange hop. Whisper of honey before the crisp finish. Nice palate but the beer is like fresh air!

From a 330ml bottle on 5/2/2011. After trying their rather insipid Vale Ale, I didn’t expect too much from something they label a lager. It doesn’t look much like a typical lager as it’s slightly cloudy. There’s not too much to smell here - just a little grassiness and malt. Flavour wise, it again doesn’t really come across as a lager, but it’s so subdued it really doesn’t really have any distinguishing character. It’s quite sweet and has a bit or a lemony kick at the end. Another bland, disappointing beer from McLaren Vale.

Bottle. Pours hazy pale straw with a tiny head. Little aroma - a hint of fruitiness. Medium body and carbonation. The flaour is very light without being thin and bland. There’s some crisp tanginess and some subtle maltiness. Overall its refreshing but unexceptional.
