Description
In mythology, literature and many cultures, the Raven is seen as a culture hero, a revered and benevolent, transformative figure. The Raven helps people, blesses them with gifts and shapes the world. But at the same time, he is a frivolous trickster, a light-hearted prankster who is sometime gluttonous and impatient. The Raven as our totem works perfectly. We like to think we are creative, wise, playful and a bit bird-brained; just like those wacky Ravens.

Draft pour at Frankies pizza. Pours a dark reddish brown color with a nice nutty, chocolate aroma. Flavor is hints of cocoa, milk chocolate, and nutty malt. Not nearly as much coconut as expected. Overall a nice porter. Very enjoyable.

Draft pour at the brewery. Pours an oily copper color with a thin patchy head. Grainy, big spice aroma. A lot of spice here, but not quite sure what spice it is. Iβll think of it a couple days from now most likely. Some corn and straw flavors and a little dry towards the finish. Very unique beer for sure. Good beer here. Update: 2016 version, renamed Raven De Brett. Much fruitier this time through, a less noticeable spice. Big Brett impact. Nice beer.

On tap at Brouwer's Cafe, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out massive herbal, pot-like hops - not a whole lot else, just monolithic pot. Flavour is clean and less pot-like, with notes of woody resinous and piney hops, herbal notes, and lots of sweet booziness. Pretty well-balanced, though the sweetness and booziness does become a bit much on the finish. Very good.
