Bottle 75 cl. Pours a cloudy golden with a dense and lacing white head. Nose is spicy, herbal with a touch of Belgian yeast. Medium body, a sweet fruitiness, a little subtle phenols, orange peel really coming out late. Decent. 041115

Draft, Alehouse on Winslow. Very cloudy, medium head. Really rich hop nose. Dank hop but with malt and a really yeasty character.

Pitch black color. Lots of dark fruit roasted malt and molasses. Tons of roasted malt but not too acidic and somewhat sweet malty backbone. Fairly decent but imperial stout is a crowded area and this ain’t at the top

Capped 375 from Kings Liquor in Anaheim. Pours very dark brown with a dark tan smear. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, rum, alcohol, darkish malt. Wow. It’s a very power brew. Med + body. Flavor is rum, rum, rum. There’s some wood, and some alcohol functioning much like hop to cut the heavy treacle. No longer sure about coffee, but I think this has a touch of chocolate. The finish is rum, rum, rum. And some alcohol. The alcohol is simply another flavor component. It’s strong, but not at all objectionable. Really tasty ale. I like rum.

Sampled @ Gents Bierfestival 2015 Das Bier ist schwarz und hat eine mittelgroße bräunliche Schaumkrone. Geruch nach Schokolade, Vanille, leicht alkoholisch. Geschmack schokoladig, erdig, Vanille, leicht alkoholisch.

Bottle. Amber beer with a cream head. Grapefruit and earth aroma with light summer fruit. Grapefruit and pine flavor with earthiness. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Grapefruit and pine linger with light spice and light dark malts.

At GBF. Californian stout with coarse, light beige head and near black colour. Lush imperial stout aroma of black chocolate, coffee grounds, ’natural’ iron, bayleaf, raisins; thick onset, dried plums, smooth and oily, filling body, touch dried banana, deep maltiness, chocolatey with a roasted touch, pleasant and accessible, creamy. Nice but a bit stereotypical.
