Bottle. Dark molasses malt aroma - fairly mild. Very dark brown with nice tan head. Malt flavor - barley primarily. Mild hops. Pretty watery and not a great schwarzbier.

Bottle. Light grassy malt aroma. Medium yellow color with small head. Moderate malt flavor that reaches its peak towards the end - mild sweetness and hops. Okay but definitely nothing special.

Bottle - subtle malt aroma. Clear light yellow color. Hops flavor right up front with only a slight malt taste. Nice full body. A bit more bitter than the average German pils -not bad.

Bottle - Strong clove/banana aroma. Light yellow color with only slight cloudiness. HIgh carbonation with much more hops than is typical in a Weizen - clove and banana flavor very subtle. A light Hefe.

Bottled label "Pilsner", alc. 4.5% (BB 02/2005)
Pale lager color, foamy white head. Aroma is hoppy with burned caramel sweetness, slightly skunky. Light to medium bodied with notes of toffee. Some hops in flavor, too. Interesting to being a German pilsener. Re-rate after sixpack of this stuff:
mostly skunky aroma, actually lame, tt was just too interesting to find toffee notes from the 1st bottle :)

Rerate at the Frühlingswasen. Still nothing special, but I should normalize my scores.
Old rating 4 4 5 4 4 4From tap Neutral nose. Cloudy soda yellow, not too impressive head. Light banana flavors. Estery aftertaste. Light body and boring.

5 liter mini keg. This was better beer than the other raters give it - perhaps the mini keg preserved the freshness better than those horrible green bottles. Good golden color with a beautiful head of froth with that classic German hop aroma. Just the right amount of bitterness takes this right to the finish. Very enjoyable brew.
