Description
Fiddlehead Brewing Company is located just outside of Burlington, VT in the scenic town of Shelburne. Our owner and Brewmaster Matt “Matty-O” Cohen opened the doors on New Year’s Eve of 2011 and since then we have gained worldwide acclaim with our lineup of approachable, multidimensional beers.
When we first opened in 2011, we did so with a completely manual 15 barrel system and just 30 barrels of capacity. Within the first month Fiddlehead IPA, the flagship ale, was on tap with at over 50 bars and restaurants in Vermont.
With the immediate success, we quickly outgrew the 3,000 sq foot space that was split between retail and production. After the last fermenter was added in 2015, we knew we needed a bigger boat.
In January of 2017, our brand new 10,000 sq foot brewery opened for production just behind the tasting room. The added space meant room for more fermenters as well as some much needed upgrades like a laboratory, grain silo, office space, and our own canning line. This expansion has allowed us to increase distribution of kegs and cans within our home state, branch into New York and Massachusetts, and renovate our tasting room (coming soon!).
While we do not currently offer tours of our production facility, our knowledgeable tasting room staff is always happy to chat about our beers and the brewing process. Our beer can be found on draft or in cans at over 650 Vermont establishments as well as an increasing number of locations around Massachusetts and New York State.
The tasting room remains at the original Shelburne Rd. location, as do countless memories of where it all began.

Stovepipe can from Wegman's. Pours a murky, orange color, with a fair, off-white head. The aroma is orange pith, resin, straw, and grapefruit. Sweet and juicy, with a bold, musty bitterness. Medium body, pulpy, and a bit acidic. Solid.

16 oz can. Aroma is pine, herb, and soft marijuana like notes. I hate to use the word “Dank”. However, that’s exactly what this is. Fruit plays a background to all of the pine and marijuana like notes. Bitterness is moderate ends on Pine-Sol. Way more pine and pine resin that I want in my IPA these days.

On tap at mad mex in robinson. Very hazy. Creamy head. Mild hoppy perfume nose. First taste is on style bitter hops. Big and gigantic bastard bitter on my lager loven taste buds. These IPA ticks are difficult for me but I'll do them if they are cheap enough. This one is very terribly on style fer sher. It could use a little more carbonation to make it a little less one sided and to help me forget about the damage to my taste buds. Wew, What ever. There, you have it. Hey waitress, get me a cold cheap pale lager for a chaser.

Hazy golden to bright orange colour, large, dense and long lasting ivory-like white head; aroma of pineapple, tangerine, lemongrassy, grapefruity, orange peel oils, some mango and biscuity notes; taste of hoppy bitterness, the same notes as can be felt in the aroma, some yeasty and spicy-horseradish-like notes (this latter one in the aftertaste) good DIPA

Very hazy yellow colour, huge, dense and long lasting ecru-ish white head; aroma of pine resiny, grapefruity, lemony, some medicinal, herbal and fruity notes; taste of hoppy-medicinal bitterness, some unripe fruitiness, spicy celery and lemony notes; not that bad, though not an extraordinary beer, for sure

Can at Sweet Cheeks BBQ, Boston. Hazy gold pour under a sudsy but thick white head. Nice big smell of hoppy pine and resin. Taste is sharp on piney hop with standard hop bitterness on the side. Lightly toasted malt.

I have a pint can obtained from Half Time early this year. Sampled previous beers from Fiddlehead and I’ve liked all the previous ones. Maintain the streak? it’s time to find out. A globe glass ready, I do the pour. Orange-yellow in appearance with a heroic top of icy white foam. I smell tropical and citrus both and perhaps some grain. I have to say the taste leans west coast. Lemons, a touch of oranges, cedar, grapefruit, cereal, hops and a moderate bitterness finishing. Not to the level of other IPAs from the brewery but a decent beer.
