A colleague was told that I'm into beer and then said, "I was clearing out my parents house and I've got a load of Belgian beer in my car. You can have it." Turned out it was a load of our of date London Pride and Ringwood beers, plus this one Belgian. BB 01/2006. Vinous and vinegar aroma. Dark amber. Slightly opaque. A scant few white bubbles. Low key bitter sweet. Booze sourness in the finish. Marzipan and apple vinegar. Light bodied. Slick. Soft carbonation. Long finish. Last had this beer a few years ago and I remember it being quite strong tasting. But this is all quite tones down. It's OK.

Bottle from a Carrefour in Ninove. Pours hazy dark brown with a thinning, frothy, off-white head. Weakish aroma of raisin, licorice, roasted malt, spices, charcoal, brown sugar, some herbs. It tastes medium spicy bitter, light malty sweet, and very light fruity sour, some metallic notes. Shortish, roasted, overall spicy finish. Medium body, slick texture, lively carbonation. It's not clear what they want to achieve with this beer - incorporating Stout elements? Not bad per se, and preferable over the Red and Gold brothers.

Pours clear golden/orange with a thin, frothy, off-white head. The aroma contains yeast, spices, some orange & pineapple, grain, grassy hops. It tastes light fruity/honey-like sweet and light to medium hoppy bitter, spicy notess. Dry, hoppy, grainy finish. Medium body, creamy texture, fizzy carbonation. Guessing it's a Belgian Abbey Tripel. Okay.
