Description
This is how it all began: "I brought back a brewing kit from a trip to Canada in 1988. At first, everything was complicated: no raw material, no information ... The beer was undrinkable, but it was intriguing. With the advent of the Internet, I started talking to other amateurs to help me get started. " After a few brews and several months of gestation ... the first craft brewery in Correze was created in June 2008 ... on paper. Then after two or three developments, the brewery opens its doors at the beginning of summer 2009 at La Grange, in Curemonte.

Ten years later, the Brasserie Corrézienne, victim of its success, decided to expand and a new building is under construction, in order to be able to increase from 900 to 1500 hectoliters per year, for a potential close to double to medium term. "We have not been responding to demand for 2 years, a step has been taken!" An adventure to follow ... around a good beer of course!

Bottle from La Cave à Bulles, Paris, lot 1201 bb Sept 2013
Black color, with medium sized brownish head, compact. Nice notes of roasted malts, some cardboard. The mouthfeel is quite dry, but rather smooth, as often happens with Corrézienne; pleasant notes of roasted malts and coffee, not really chocolate; there is a light creamy and cheesy feeling, from the yeast. Another beer from France that is not very clean, but this kind of malts help to hide the minor flaws.
Pleasant.

Bottle from La Cave à Bulles, L 2 202 (?), 7.5% ABV, 66 IBU
Hazy dark amber color with creamy and persistent head. Nice hop aroma, fruity (apricot, pineapple…), and nice caramel too. Strong body structure, it has a powerful caramel flavor, with moderate residual sweetness, and even some chocolate; the hopping is very high, providing enough resins and some fruits; it has a strong yeast character too, quite spicy, with a British accent too.
Atypical, good.

Bottle from La Cave à Bulles, Paris, batch 1101, bb Jul 2012 (?)
Hazy golden color, with generous compact head. Light aroma, a bit of malt, vanilla, lightly feety. Medium flavor of cereals; correct bitterness.
Unfresh, although it was purchased just a few weeks ago; easy.

Hazy golden color, with compact head, and a lot of floaters. Perfumy aroma, nice fruity touch, an impression of Nelson Sauvin, but the typical pungency is limited. The mouthfeel is smooth, also because the carbonation is high; the malt flavor is dry and quite pleasant, with some cereal and crispy impression; the bitterness is high, although the qualities of the hop don’t shine.
A good beer, but below expectations.

Hazy golden color with compact head, and persistent perlage. Light aroma of lemon, pizza dough (yeast). Smooth mouthfeel; the malt profile has a definite cereals edge; correct bitterness, but no Simcoe qualities.
Pleasant beer, with no flaws; but just purchased and probably unfresh.

Hazy amber color, with compact head. Some aroma of malt and hops, but simple. Smooth mouthfeel; compared to the other HopHopHop! this one has some more caramel flavor; strong bitterness, nevertheless balanced, with some hop resins, but not much hop aromatic qualities.
Good, but a bit simple.

Bottled 330ml. -from La Cave à Bulles, Paris as Corrézienne La Noire Porter. First rate...nice. Almost black coloured, medium sized beige head, mild roasty and chocolate nose. Roasted malt (mildly vinous) and dry coffee/chicory taste with pleasant chocolate notes in the finish. Rather light but ok porter.

Bottled 330ml. -from La Cave à Bulles, Paris. Murky orange coloured, medium sized white head, pleasant hoppy fruity nose. Moderate malty, quite bitter grapefruity hoppy with nice floral notes. Slight jam like fruity sweetness with bitter finish and long-lasting bitter aftertaste. It seems that my favorite Cascade hops got dangerous competition in Nelson Sauvin.

Bottle from La Cave à Bulles, Paris; lot 1201, bb June 2013 (2 months old)
Hazy blond color with an orange shade; medium head, controlled carbonation. The aroma is quite anonymous. The flavor is dry, some malt, but also a sharp yeasty and metallic note; it has a quite strong bitterness, with some dry hop resins and very light fruitiness from the hops.
Drinkable, but too much affected by the yeast character, like many old style French beers.

Bottle from Cave a Bulles. Bit of a gusher! Pours hazy orange gold with a 3 finger foamy white head. The tropical fruit aromas are much more distinct than in many NS ales I’ve had. Med body. Flavor is very light caramel with tropical hop - tho not quite so impressive as in the aroma. Still it’s tropical fruit. It’s mellow. Perhaps a little less than smooth. But it’s a very nice beer, finishing fruity and bitter.
