16 oz. can, pours a clear copper with a medium beige head. Aroma is full of fragrant campfire smoke, toasted bready malt, and a touch of caramel. Flavour is potent, with a wonderful ashy campfire smoke, with just enough sugars in the caramel bready malt to back. It’s like I’m back in Bamberg—killer smoked marzen, up there with Schlenkerla and Spezial. Excellent.

Dark, golden-amber colour with beautiful effervescence and a thick head. Damn near perfect. Appetizing beech smoke aroma. Good bitterness, sweet toffee malts, and a rich smoke character. Well balanced, rich smoke, excellent rauchbier.

16oz can from Tavour. Anything from Gold Dot is a treat! Clear, dark amber pour, nice big, airy head eventually settles down to a creamy layer. Smokey aroma, tobacco, malty, woody. Taste is sweet, caramel, with the smoked malts there but not overwhelming. Very smooth with some residual ashy flavors.

Deep gold colour, nice effervescence, thick head. Malty aroma, slight bready note. Pale malt, a bit of juiciness, so not perfect, but decent. Good balancing bitterness. Solid dortmunder.

Can from Tavour. Pours darkish amber with a transient near-white head. Aroma of smoke. Med body. Malty but fairly dry. Smoky rather than bitter. Beechwood comes to mind for some reason. Nice lager.

473mL can. Pours clear gold with a fairly fast-dissipating white head. Barley and crisp dry grass on the nose. Flavour has a moderately heavy barley malt base along with some crisp straw and dry grass. Crisp and dry, great lager.
