Description
Two locals, whose grandparents were still working in the mine, developed the beers. The plan to brew on a large scale soon followed. The first liters of Kompel beer poured out of the tanks at Brouwerij Anders! Kompel Bovengronds was quickly successful and six months later Kompel Ondergronds came onto the market. Between the summer of 2015 and 2018, the beers were brewed at Kasteelbrouwerij Ter Dolen in Houthalen-Helchteren. Since 2019, the beers have been brewed on a larger scale at the Pilot Brewery in Lochristi.

Light brown, hazy. Aroma and flavour have some light caramel sweetness, candy, malts and yeast.

Golden colour. Fresh taste with light yeast. Moderately bitter finish. A balanced Blond. Not bad.

Hell herber Antrunk, minimal bitter. Hefig, eher laff trocken. Okay. 10/8/9/9//8

Sample @ Zythos’16, courtesy of and shared with the RB Belgian crew. Ambrée, col beige vire blanc-cassé. Arôme au nez modéré de malt pâle et pils, cara ambre, houblonné noble restant assez faiblard. Profil moyenne en effervescence, malté pils et pâle avec un malt semblant plus foncé que pour la version Bovengronds. Le houblon reste, malgré ses 4 variétés - nobles je suppose - trop discret pour apporter un profil relevé.

Sample @ Zythos’16, courtesy of and shared with the RB Belgian crew. Dorée, col blanc. Arôme fruité, fleuri noble très belge dans le rétro de levure et de grains - style pils cara pâle. Palais est malté, fruité et fleuri rappelant un peu la lavande, fin citronné encore une fois dans une lignée bien belge.

Amber-brown color with tan head. Aroma is sweet malts, some apples. Taste is not very refined, just a bit of Belgian yeasts and not much maltiness. Lacking character.

Fast klare orange braune Farbe, geringe beige Schaumkrone. Geruch nach milden roten FrĂĽchten, Karamell. Geschmack mild fruchtig, rote FrĂĽchte, leicht metallisch hopfig.

Sampled @ ZBF 2016 (Thank you for sharing BE RB CREW!) Dark brown, amber, tanned head. Nose is wet dog, water leaves, herbal. Taste is fizzy wet cacao, wet dog, herbal, rubbish, watery. Herbal & watery, wed dog. Nopes.

Sampled @ ZBF 2016 (Thank you for sharing BE RB CREW!) Lightly hazy citrus, off-white. Nose is soap, dusty chemical, watery, iron, metallic. Taste is soap, dusty chemical, watery, wet dog, dust. Body is watery iron, dusty. Not too good.

Fast klare goldene Farbe, geringe weiĂźe Schaumkrone. Geruch sĂĽĂź malzig, getreidig, helle FrĂĽchte. Geschmack wĂĽrzig malzig, GewĂĽrze, hefig, etwas Banane.
