Moncada Brewery
Microbrewery in London Borough of Brent, Greater London, England 🏴
Established in 2011
Closed in 2021
We began Moncada Brewery in the colourful area of Notting Hill. Julio surrounded himself with like-minded craft beer obsessives and became inspired by the neighbourhood – creative, vibrant and hemmed with diversity – and the Notting Hill beer range was born, which makes up our core range today.
Later, in 2017, we moved to Dollis Hill to expand and explore a new locality. A new place marked a new start, and the Blueprint beer series was launched, focusing on experimentation and limited edition releases, with a touch of eccentricity.
Relocated once more in Spring 2018 to the current address.

Pigs Ear Day 4. Cask. Hazy gold - amber beer, bubbly cream colour head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Reasonable carbonation. Light malts, a whisper of smoke. Hops bring spice, mild skunk, ripe orange and tangy lemon. Some mellow tropical fruits on the finish. Pretty drinkable.

Gravity cask at Pigs Ear 2015 - London. Pours hazy orange-gold wit ha frothy, white head. Piney hops in the nose, some ripening orange. Light to medium sweet flavour with a dank hop aspect, more pine, flinty minerals, some gooey mango. Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation; so so condition. Lightly resinous on the finish, with juicy hops, more citrus, moderate tropical fruit notes, restrained bitterness. Not bad overall.

The Pigs Ear wrap up tasting at ChrisO’s. Hazy deep red - amber beer, small cream colour head. Palate is light, semi dry and has decent fine carbonation. Thin sweetish malts, a tangy caramel - toffee and thin malt cream. Nice, if thin, bourbon. A little floralness. Light citric peel and marmalade. Touch of woody bitterness. Some mild and sweetish esters. Light dry finish. Dry but tasty.

Cask at Pig’s Ear, 2015. Amber pour with a white head. Bags of tropical fruit in the nose with some subtle nuances of sweet citrus fruit which segues nicely into the flavour. Good stuff.

Bottle at Moncada Tap Room, London, Friday, 11th December 2015 This was a really hoppy version of the Amber that Ang had gone and rooted out, appearing much hoppier than the usual version this batch was lovely. I can’t recall what Ang said the exact hops were but I believe that amazingly for me I managed to pick out Colombus. It was as you might guess amber in colour with citrussy and pine resin notes, very hoppy mouthfeel, a very good beer. A8 A4 T7 P3 Ov15 3.7

Keg at Moncada Tap Room, London, Friday, 11th December 2015 Pours yellow gold with a sticky white head on top. Yeast on nose but with a goodly dollop of fruit, notably some light wafts of sweet orange aromas. It’s a really nice saison, fruity in the mouth a light rustic touch from the yeast, nudging towards citrus with a dab of sweet orange again, but a slightly tangier bite. Really liked it. Bottle big thanks to Leighton. It pours cloudy deep brown with a decent beige. The nose is soft, sweet, sticky, toffee, raw booze, bourbon, honeycomb, vanilla, banana split and wood. The taste is bitter-sweet, big boosty bourbon hit, oak, light charred notes, leather, tannins, vanilla, dark chocolate, cacao nibs and dried fruits with a dry finish. Medium - full body and average carbonation. Good depth and balance. Nice work.
