Description
Moncada is more than a brewery – it’s our home. When Julio Moncada first came travelling through West London in 2001 he instantly fell in love with the place. As a dedicated “foodie” he first wanted to start a deli, but then he had an even better idea – the Moncada Brewery.

We began Moncada Brewery in the colourful area of Notting Hill. Julio surrounded himself with like-minded craft beer obsessives and became inspired by the neighbourhood – creative, vibrant and hemmed with diversity – and the Notting Hill beer range was born, which makes up our core range today.

Later, in 2017, we moved to Dollis Hill to expand and explore a new locality. A new place marked a new start, and the Blueprint beer series was launched, focusing on experimentation and limited edition releases, with a touch of eccentricity.

Relocated once more in Spring 2018 to the current address.

Cask at the Rake. It pours jet black with a small tan head. The nose is rich roast, charcoal, cocoa, cola coffee and treacle. The taste is bitter, rich roast, coffee, citrus peel, earth, treacle, charred wood, molasses, burnt brown sugar, with a lingering dry-bitter finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty damn bitter, which almost pushes it into the bipa territory. Rather tasty stuff.

Bottle from Ales By Mail [200814]
Black, dense frothy tan head, some lacing
Aroma of mellow roast, dark malts, touch of savoury malts, dab of dark chocolate
Taste of dark malts, dark chocolate, coffee, mellow roast, slight savoury malts, soft bitter roast, smooth dark malts, really good
Palate - soft carb, light to medium body, smooth texture, chocolate dark malts coat the tongue, bit thin though. Finish of soft roast, dark chocolate, some lingering dark fruity chocolate
Overall - Good stout, think this would be even better on cask

Gift from the brewers @ RBESG visit to the brewery / Grand Tasting. I was specificaly told it was for enjoying, not rating. So of course I obliged. Took the bottle for a night with friends at the beach watching aurora borealis, a rare sight in The Netherlands. The light was faint, but the company great, and the beer more than enjoyable. Thanks!

On tap at Craft Beer Co, Covent Garden on 23rd August 2014. Translucent with neither head nor lace in the tulip glass into which it was dispensed. Sour lemon, slight soapiness and yeasts in aroma. Tangy grapefruit, lemon and lime blend in-mouth and finish which died rather sooner than wished for. Zingy mouthfeel and light body. A refresher and a quencher; little else though.
