Medium to longlasting bitterness, slightly harsh sour-ish fruity mouthfeel. Fair enough.

Bottle, 75cl. 2019 vintage. It pours a clear golden body with some carbonation and a few white bubbles on top. The aroma has a hint of alcohol and yeast, but it's mostly ripe, fresh apple. Some apple jam and cores too, with a faint grassy touch and some cellar notes. It's full-bodied and lightly warming, nicely carbonated and quite smooth on the palate, with a light sweetness. The flavor is driven by fresh apple, but there's also notes of grass, yeast, apple cores and some apple jam, with a touch of yeast and spices chiming in at the very end. A quite nice one indeed, but I found it to be most pleasant when finishing the bottle on day two. It was more mellow and feeling more complex then. And less yeasty. 211206

Bottle, 75cl. It's a clear, pale golden to straw colored cider, still and headless. The aroma is a bit sulphury, but with focus on fresh apple. Some notes of apple cores and grass. Luckily most of the sulphur disappears quite quickly. It's medium to full-bodied, with some warmth and a pleasant carbonation. Dry, but not really sour. Fresh apple, some grass and apple cores and a hint of lemon in the flavor. Long finish with lots of fresh apple, and a light alcohol warmth. Very nice this one, even though it's a bit high on the ABV. The alcohol level isn't disturbing in any way here. 211103

Bottle, 75cl corked. A clear golden colored cider with a few white bubbles. Not much carbonation going on, but some bubbles rise to the top. The aroma is perhaps a bit rough, at 9% ABV that's no surprise, with apple cores, grass, some alcohol, a light touch of pear, earthy hints and a good dash of almost ripe apple. It's full-bodied, softly carbonated and with a little alcohol warmth, quite dry, with a flavor dominated by soon harvest ready apples. Grass, orchard, apple cores and a touch of green banana. The banana touch sprung to mind after reading the label, and it's just a faint touch of it. Crisp, lightly warming finish with lots of apple flavor. The aroma doesn't promise as much as I hoped for, but the rest of the experience is really nice. Not sure letting it go to an ABV of 9% is the best of ideas though. 210920

Oppsummeringsmøte med oppdatering av lagerstatus om bord på Fridtjofen. Såvel skibsreder som skogsmatros og undertegnede er høyt motiverte for tomflaskeproduksjon. Etter Sjuragarden Discovery 2019 og 2018 er vi nå klar for parallellsmaking av Sjuragarden Aroma 2019 (9,5%) og Aroma 2019 Red Label (10%), to forskjellige produksjoner i følge innehaveren av Sjuragarden. Begge har en klar, gylden farge (men 2019 er dyp gylden) og med lett perlende munnfølelse. Mer skumdannelse i Red Label. Smak 2019: røde epler, litt lær, høy, kanel og lynghonning. Smak Red Label: røde epler, hint av karamell, solbær og modne bringebær. Varmende ettersmak, nesten som en god single malt. Begge kjæler med ganen og er forførende drikke, men ganske ulike og fortjener å kunne rates som to separate produkter, i likhet med Discovery 2018 og 2019.
