About
Established in 2017 producing bottled and keg beers, the brewery moved into cask production in 2019. Originally brewing from his residence, owner/brewer David Hampshaw soon relocated the two-barrel brewery into a taphouse in Penistone town centre. The brewery has been expanded to a five-barrel system, allowing for an increased range, a greater focus on cask ale, and wider distribution. Cans were introduced in 2020. The brewery is named after the highly-prized, local, whitefaced woodland sheep.

Can. Beer Central, Sheffield. Fairly thick and hazy in the glass. Fine, sticky white head. Well the nose on this is ridiculous. I had to check the ingredients to see if it had mango and peach purée in it (It hasn’t). Just a complete fruit bomb. Taste is expectedly sweet, to start, but turns punchy, pithy bitter. Smooth and slick mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. Fairly airy. Lingering bitterness to finish. Great beer, with the hops well and truly rung out.

Can. Beer Central, Sheffield. Hazed gold. Lovely, sticky white head. Nose has pulped citrus. A touch of pine. Clean malts. Taste has a citrus sweetness, turning moderately, pithy and oily bitter. Smooth and fairly airy. Soft carbonation. Some dryness. Juicy stuff. Definitely feels more East coast than West, though.

Can. Beer Central, Sheffield. Soft haze on a pale gold. Shiny white foam lasts and is semi lacing. Nose has bitter peel. Floral hop. Malts are a little doughy. Some fusty lemon rind. Taste is full on bitter with no particular let up. Gets a little dry. Medium body. Lively carbonation. Lingering bitterness to finish.

Can. Beer Central, Sheffield. Medium haze on a vibrant, pale gold. Dense swirl of just off white head, is lasting and lacing. Nose has sweet and fruity Sabro. Touch of vanilla and wafer biscuit. Lime and coconut is the giveaway. Taste is sweet and fruity, with a little leafy, grassy bitterness. Light to medium body. Fairly slick. Fine carbonation. Light bitter finish. Sabrotastic.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Hazed gold, with a thin, sturdy, lightly lacing, just off white head. Nose has super clean malt. Touch of spice from the rye. Nicely juicy hops with notes of overripe citrus. Ripe peach. Touch of flora. Taste is well balanced sweet grain and fruity bitterness. Light to medium body. Fairly oily. Fine, crisp carbonation. Lingering, moderate bitterness to finish. Nice. Reminded me of a Kernel pale.
