Cask at the white Hart St Albans. A clear deep orange coloured pour with a a fading thin white head. Aroma is woody bark, grass, pine, orange scented varnish, raw grains, straw.. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, woody bark, grass, straw, bit rough round the edges. Palate is semi sweet, hop oils, mellow carbonation. Ok.

Cask. Shakespeare’s Sheffield. Been way too long since I was last in here. Good to see the sandwiches are still a quid each. Anyhoo. Hazed pale gold. Froth of white is fully lacing. Nose has bready malt. Some pineapple flesh. Taste has a bready sweetness but is mostly dry and light bitter. Light bodied with brisk fine carbonation. Light bitter finish.

Clear dark reddish amber beer, good pale tan head. Pleasant nose of malt and ripe fruity brandy. Palate is fairly light and smooth, decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts, a touch of creamy sweetness. Biscuity malts as well. A nice light nuttyness. The brandy soaked ripe fruits follow the nose, loud and clear. Light finish. Nice. Better than I was expecting. There is some decent malt character here. Could do with a more sumptuous mouth feel but it's a decent barleywine.

Hand-pulled pint at The Pheasant Inn and Brewhouse, Wellington Shropshire on 30th April 2022. It's pale and tastes of citrus fruits! Actually it's a light golden colour with a snow white head and does indeed smell and taste of lemony grapefruit.

Shrewsbury Monthly Beer Share; Chez Sophie, 11th April 2022. Five guys all passionate about beer bringing their thoughts and offerings to split between us. Cheers Mat for this 660ml bottle, the evenings 'nightcap'. BB 31st December 2031 we did it proud! tanned topping on everyone's black bodied beer, not really smooth or rich in flavour but 'Stouty' and boozy enough. The Bourbon does come through to enhance the booziness and add some spirit to the malty, dark chocolate flavour.
