Bottle from Eltham Wines. Black pour with a beige head. Nose is cookie dough, dark chocolate, toffee, sweet tobacco. Taste is chocolate, raisin, caramel, cookie dough, whack of creamy coffee. Malty sweet finish. Goes down well.

Bottle from Top Cellar. Black body with a thin beige head. Faint lacing. Aroma of mint and woody malt. Flavour of chocolate and fresh mint. Thin to medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. The label has no mention of mint in the ingredients but the mint comes through quite strongly in the taste. A tasty beer.

Cask at the Cardinals Hat. Deep almost black colour with a tan head. Aroma and taste are roasted malty and subtle maple. Medium body.

Bottle. Beer Central Sheffield. Hazed bronze. Suds of sticky off white foam. Nose has jammy malt. Sticky dried fruit. Toffee. Pine sap. Smells very much like a red IPA to me. Taste is sticky sweet with a good hit of sticky sappy bitterness. Medium body with soft carbonation. Lingering bitterness to finish. Very nice beer but it’s not a West coast IPA.

Bottle. Beer Central Sheffield. Dark gold. Soft haze. Very decent thick white foam. Nose has sweet citrus and pineapple flesh. Rye like malt. Notes of green leaf and herb flora. Taste is pretty bitter and tangy, with a little biscuity malt sweetness. Doesn’t lack body, with bright crisp carbonation. Drying toward the finish with the bitterness staying throughout. Tasty gear for sure.

Bottle. Beer Central Sheffield. Fridge clear out job. Clear dark red. Messy and super sticky off white foam. Nose has treacle toffee, unsurprisingly. Some woody coffee grinds. Some sweet dried fruit. Taste is a little dry and a little bitter with not too much sweetness happening, which works out well. Light to medium body with fine carbonation. Bitter finish. Decent, albeit like most of this series of brews, it feels a little artificial.

Bottle. Beer Central Sheffield. Medium gold. Light haze. Suds of just off white foam. Nose has creamy malt. Citrus and cut grass hop. Some piny notes. Bit of blackcurrant in there too. Taste is bittersweet. Light and quenching on the palate. Fine brisk carbonation. Light but lingering bitterness to finish. Great golde.

Bottle. Beer Central Sheffield. As North Riding Ernest. Light haze on a pale to medium gold. Nicely dense, lasting, semi lacing bright white head. Looks great. Nose has pale malt. Floral hop. Little bit of something like oily sage leaf. Almost a savoury note to it. Pretty unusual, but I’m not minding it really. Taste is bittersweet. Light bodied with fairly low carbonation. Dries out at the end. Very decent. Bit more life would have elevated it nicely though.

Bomber. Beer Central Sheffield. Clear very dark brown. Nicely dense and sticky tan foam. Nose has dark caramel truffle chocolate. Hint of savoury. Light barrel notes. Intense vine fruit character. Taste is fairly sweet and vinous. Some soft fruit bitterness. Smooth and incredibly easy drinking with fine carbonation. Vinous and fruity chocolate bitterness to finish. Oosh.
