Description
We’re a friendly bunch of Yorkshire folk with a passion for all things ale. Since 2015, we’ve been driven by a passion for innovating ales, while sticking to the traditional methods and high quality that you know and love.

The North Riding Brewery is based in the village of Snainton, just outside the seaside town of Scarborough, Yorkshire. Every day we’re blessed with chocolate box views of God’s own county and refreshing sea air. You could say there’s a little taste of Yorkshire in every brew.

Our production process is simple. We currently brew three times a week in our microbrewery, focusing on hop-forward modern ales with the finest ingredients.

Our mission is to delight your taste buds with a little love from Yorkshire. We’ll drink to that.

First brewed during March 2015 using a 10BBL plant. Initially it was based at the Betton Business Park, East Ayton, Scarborough. It is a sister brewery to North Riding Brewpub. In Summer 2019 the brewery relocated to their current location.

The majority of the output now comes from East Ayton but the brewpub also continues to operate, primarily for small batch beers sold at the pub, test brews and the occasional festival special.

Bottle. Beer Central Sheffield. Clear deep chestnut brown. Decent dense ring of tan. Missus has asked why I bother sometimes, and it’s a good question. This is a bit cardboardy with pretty distinct artificial mint chocolate shenanigans.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Clear deep chestnut brown. Fine and messy tan head. Nose has Old Jamaica chocolate bar. Chocolate and coffee malt. Taste is sweet and gingery, with a dark chocolate bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel. Gets a little dry. Fine carbonation. Moderate bitterness to finish.

Bakewell Tart Stout from North Riding Brewery

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Sits very dark chestnut brown with a slim, sticky beige foam. Nose has Raspberry Ruffle chocolate. Hint of almond essence. Some earthy hop leaf. Taste is initially sweet, with a light roast malt and coffee bitterness. Pretty smooth mouthfeel, albeit a tad thin. Fine carbonation. Moderate bitterness to finish.

Handpull cask at the Needle & Pin, Loughborough. Very dark brown and translucent with a large beige head. Light peanut aroma with some chocolate. Sweet taste, not a lot of peanut but enough to impart the character. Some sourness on the finish. Flat body. Not bad.

Single Hop American Pale Ale - Talus from North Riding Brewery

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Hazed gingery gold with a thick, firm, lasting, just off white whipped foam. Couldn’t look much better. Nose has zested ripe citrus and melon skin. Some floral notes. Clean and biscuity malt. Taste is moderately bitter. Flicker of sweetness. Refreshing on the palate with brisk and fine carbonation. Moderate zesty bitterness to finish.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Light haze on a ginger gold. Off white lasting foam. Nose has spicy malt. Nicely weedy hop leaf. Some ripened citrus. Taste has a flicker of sweetness, but is mostly dry and assertively bitter. Decent body with lively carbonation. Lingering moderate bitterness to finish. How NR pales should be all the time.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Hazed dark gold. Decent just off white is lasting and semi lacing. Nose has lightly spicy malt. Hop leaf. Tea. Touch of flora. Taste has a light malt sweetness, and a leafy bitterness. Decent body. High-ish carbonation. Light bitter finish. Nice hoppy golde.
