Cask at the Kelham Island Tavern; dark chestnut brown pour with a bubbly tan head, aroma has rich coffee and a hint of chocolate, taste has coffee, red fruits and sweet chocolate.

Cask. Gravity dispense. Barrow Hill. Straw colour. Thin, white head. Minerally, peachy hop. Light malts. Grassy hop. Taste is crisp, clean, grassy bitter. Light body. Lemon hop, pithy bitter finish. Tastes a little green. Decent, though.

Bottle. Beer Stop, Dronfield. Hazy, dull gold. Suds and film of bright white head. Nose has bright, fleshy citrus. Mango and peach. Notes of pine needle. Light, vanilla malt background. On smell alone the missus thought this was a Kernel pale ale. Taste is soft sweet, with a fruity, citrus bitterness. Some leafy, earthy bitterness, too. Mouthfeel is slightly dry, with a light body and soft carbonation. Finish leans more toward the earthy bitterness as it goes along. Maybe not as vibrant as some from North Riding, lately, but still pretty good.

Bottle. Beer Stop, Dronfield. Straw colour, with a green grey tinge. Light haze. Thin, messy, white head. Nose has fresh strawberry. Strawberry chew sweets. Intense, orangey citrus notes. Creamy, vanilla malts. Further notes of lemon juice, lime and peach. Taste is citrus rind bitter. Light, creamy sweetness. Light body, with light carbonation. More zest on the finish, before drying out a little at the end. All crammed into a 4%er. Fantastic.

Bottle. Beer Stop, Dronfield. As North Riding (East Ayton) Jester English Pale Ale. Hazy, pale amber. Swirl of sticky, white head. Nose has pink grapefruit. Orange pulp. Some strawberry. Light, toasty malts. Taste is punchy, oily, zesty bitter. Any sweetness comes from the fruity hops. Crisp mouthfeel. Nice and juicy. Light body. Finish stays zesty bitter, just drying out nicely at the end.

Bottle. Dronfield Beer Stop. Clear, light gold. Bubbly, messy, sticky, white head. Nose has pineapple. Passion fruit. Nectarine. Juicy as you like. Notes of pine needle. Some strawberry. Light, toasty malts in the background. Taste is light, zesty bitter. Trace of sweetness. Clean, light, crisp mouthfeel. The bitterness gets punchier and more resinous toward the finish. This brewer makes the best sub 5% hoppy pale ales in the country, for me. Excellent.

Cask. Shakespeare’s, Sheffield. Clear, dark, chestnut brown. Foamy, lasting, tan head. Wow. Rum and raisin choc ice! Chocolate malts. Earthy and nutty. Cocoa nibs. Nailed on rum and raisin. Taste is light, vinous sweet. Some nutty dryness. Smooth mouthfeel. Easy drinking, and light bodied. Some sweetness on the lips. Soft sweet, fruity finish. Minimal bitterness throughout. Nice one.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Hazy, gingery gold. Messy, sticky, lasting, bright white head. Holy shit. Another stunner. So much juicy hop. Soft, clean malts. This brewer is storming at the minute. Perfect nick. Absolutely lovely.
