Description
In the quaint little village of Cromwell, in the heart of Nottinghamshire nestles our modest brewery. Run by husband and wife duo, Ken and Fran Munro, true connoisseurs in craft ale with a motto for quality over quantity, we brew the finest, most flavoursome ales every time. We keep our base recipe simple using the four traditional ingredients hops, malt, wheat and water and have won numerous awards since opening our doors in 2004.

We supply cask and bottled beers to pubs, farm shops and breweries up and down the country. Brewing 5 days a week, we have a varied selection of ales, whether it’s a blonde you prefer, citrussy pale ales, red or amber bitters right through to porters and stouts we have something for everyone.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a brown shine and no head. The aroma is sweet with notes of soy sauce, roasted malt, and coffee, as well as a light note of bitter chocolate. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of hard roasted malt, that lends the beer both bitterness and an acidity in the bitter finish.

50 cL bottle. Pours dark brown/black with a light tan and lacing head. Roasted and light coffeish aroma. Acidic flavour, solid roasted and mild smoked flavour. Almost without any sweetness at all. Acidic and smoked finish. Somewhat an off composition imho.

Bottled. A dark golden beer with a medium off-white head. The aroma is sweet, but also with an acidic note - even though it is drunk 2 months prior to the best before date - but there are also more pleasant notes of malt, spicy hops, and lemon. The flavor is acidic malty combined with notes of citrus and light notes of caramel. A bottling problem I believe after readign Fin’s review..

(Cask at Market Porter, Borough, London, 28 Nov 2007) Golden amber colour with brief, white head. Fruity nose with notes of dried apricots and wheat. Fruity taste with apricots, citrus and sweetish notes of wheat. The malt and hops don’t really balance the abv level.
