Description
Formed by three friends Joe, Jade and Karim, Glean makes cider from 100% juice. Apples are handpicked from local, unsprayed orchards fermented in stainless steel using only wild yeasts with no sweeteners or sulphites and no pasteurisation.

Karim and Joe had been making cider for 10 years as a hobby before deciding in 2020 to share their passion. The name Glean is inspired by the practice of picking from orchards where the apples might otherwise be left on the ground, and we carry this ethos throughout all aspects of the cider making…

Sample courtesy of Cheeseboard, cheers Simon! Orange golden colour, bubbly white foam head that dissipates away and aroma of apple, fruit, funk. Taste is sweetish, apply, tangy, fleshy, core, fruity, with some wood, funky notes and drying tannin. Medium bodied, low carbonation, dry earthy tannic finish. Nicely drinkable.

750 ml bottle sourced from Darts Farm. Pours almost clear vibrant orange with dissipating opaque bubbles. Aroma: Apple skins, apple core, funk, mildly floral. Taste: bittersweet apple, tangy, citric, some caramel, drying tannic finish. Medium body with low carbonation. Good one.

Sample with Grumbo via Ed. Aroma is fleshy apple, barnyard, funky and caramel. Ok body, light carbonation. Smooth, drying finish.

3/9/2024. Bottle shared by danlo, cheers Ed! Pours clear amber gold with a small bubbly white head. Aroma is sweet apple, barnyard, brown sugar, funky, caramel. Moderate sweetness, light bitterness, touch tart. Moderate body, average carbonation. Nice drying finish. Decent.

Panda at home, thanks to Ed Danlo. A mostly clear deep orange coloured pour with a loose halo of white head. Aroma is semi sweet, airy apple, some tangy green apple, lihgt wet dog notes. Flavour is composed of leafy apple, bark, fennel, green liquorice, drying finish. Palate is crisp, tangy, pithy drying finish, highish carbonation, chalky. spritzy carbonation. Decent.

Panda at home, thanks to Ed Danlo, 23/08/24. Golden to light copper pour with a white cap that veers edgewards. Nose is bitter sweet apple, caramel, vinous, straw, light farmyard nip. Taste comprises apple skins, tannins, caramel, straw, hedgerow, light acidic bimble. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying close. Decent funky drop.

750ml bottle from Pullo. My English Cidery #489. Golden colour, white foam head that quickly dissipates to a thin rim and aroma of apple, fruit, barnyard funky. Taste is sweetish, apple, fruity, some skin, with barnyard funk, leather, tangy, tart, and mellow drying tannin. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry light tart & tannic finish. Nicely drinkable.

75cl bottle from Pullo, Exeter. Pours unclear misty golden orange with a gentle effervescence. Lovely blend, nicely fruity, made with Black Dabinett which I've not heard of before.. some distant berry notes. Good stuff.
