Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Hazed, deep orange gold. Nicely dense, thin, lasting, shiny white head. Nose has shades of lavender and your Nan’s flat. Some buttery malt. Taste has a slightly metallic bitterness, and a buttery sweetness. Medium body. Fine crisp carbonation. Lingering bitterness to finish. Not anywhere near this brewer’s usual standard.

500ml bottle bought from the Offie, Leicester, and drunk at home. Dark brown, opaque with a thin khaki head. Scent of plum and raisin with notes of dark chocolate and ash. Bitterness to the taste, with some sweetness mid-sip disappearing and into a slight acrid finish with chocolate and more plum notes. Oily body, medium carbonation. Not overly keen but it's drinkable

Bottle at home, from Beer Direct Buxton, 14/10/20. Light black with a reddish hue when held to the light and topped with a handsome khaki cap. Nose is dried fruits, dark malts, light coffee, mellow roast, hint ashen. Taste comprises roast malts, fruit cake, toffee, hint of liquorice, brown bread. Medium bodied, light prickly carbonation, drying close with a roasted coating. Decent well rounded porter.

Bottle at home, from Beer Direct Buxton, 01/01/20. Black with a decent khaki head. Nose is dried fruits, chocolate, nutty, raisins, light booze, light roasted tones. Taste comprises chocolate, dark malts, roasted bite, charr, dried fruit esters, raisins. Full bodied, fine carbonation , drying close with a balanced rising boost. Solid easy drinking exponent of the style.

Growler shared in Watford - cheers! Pours clear brown with a small, foamy tan head. Medium sweet flavour, rich dark malts, soft cocoa, coffee, roast. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, more hearty dark malts, earthy bitterness. Nice one.

Growler power thanks to shig. A dark brown black coloured pour with a a halo of tan head. Aroma is nutty, cakey malts, dried fruits, apple. Flavour is composed of semi sweet brown leather, brown sugars, spicy ginger, brandy snap sugars. Palate is semi sweet, sticky, moderate carbonation oily. Ok. Robust.

Bottle at home, from Beer District Buxton, 22/09/20. Black with a decent tan covering that stays for the show. Nose is roast malts, liquorice, sugar dusting, toffee, cocoa sprinkle. Taste comprises mellow roast, light coffee bean, cocoa powder, dried fruits, light blackcurrant notes. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light dryness in the close. Decent easy drinking stout but would have liked more coffee presence for a beer with said product in the name.

500ml bottle delivered from the Blue Boar, Leicester. Light greenish gold, clear, with an uneven collection of white head on top. Aroma of fresh pineapple, white grapefruit, grass, hay. Sweet taste with punchy citrus hops leading to light bitterness in the finish. Light body, heavy carbonation. Pretty good stuff.

Bottle delivered from the Blue Boar, Leicester, and drunk at home. Dark broen, only slightly translucent. Quickly disappearing beige head. Light aroma, some chocolate malt, coffee grounds. Sweet malty taste with prominent cocoa disappears mid-sip, allowing the exposed bitter hops to go unchallenged through to the long finish. Heavy carbonation. Very nice.
