A fairly basic stout in as much as it doesn't do anything you don't expect bar one thing, but just a really good example of a dry, bitter chocolate and coffee stout. The one thing is the addition of the fuggles mentioned in the description and the little hoppy kick at the end is a pleasant twist.

Sample at the Dronfield Camra beer festival. Thin beige head. Clear black pour. Clear liquorice aftertaste. Well balanced.

Cask at the Fuggle & Nugget, Burton. Light gold, clear, no head. Hay and light notes of lemon balm on the nose. Taste is quite sweet with a scratchy hop bitterness in the long finish. This is a hard beer to like. I normaly like Ashover but this beer doesn't excite me.

Cask at Drink? Hebden Bridge. Deeper clear golden, hoppy, not the most stated example of the hop, but clean and easy.

Bottle. Mitchell’s Wines, Sheffield. 7.4%. Opened with a big hiss, but poured fairly lifeless, clear, dark copper colour. No head. Nose has super sweet, toffee caramel. Sweet vine fruit. Dates and ripe plum. Smells like a barley wine. Taste is equally sweet, with a robust, chewy, fruity bitterness. Medium body. Very low carbonation. More of the chew. Lingering bitterness to finish. This was bottled 2 weeks ago, but feels oxidised. The condition definitely suggests that. Might have to try again, because there’s a decent beer in there somewhere.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2017, [ Great British Beer Festival 2017 ], London Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, England W14 8UX.[ As Ashover Elderflower ].Clear medium yellow colour with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, sweet malt, elderflowers. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, elderflowers, pale malt, sweet malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20170808] 6-3-5-3-11

16/11/2018. Cask at the Cambridge Winter Beer Festival 2018. Pours black with a bubbly beige head. Aroma of dark fruit, liquorice, chocolate and roasted malt. Medium sweetness and bitterness with a hint of sour. Medium to full bodied, oily texture, average to soft carbonation. Liquorice dominates the finish.
