Description
The original Ashover Brewery was founded in 2007 and over the years has won numerous industry-wide awards for their beers. Unfortunately, due to several factors the brewery then slipped into liquidation in early 2025.

However, a group of locals believed this was a great loss to the area and decided to do something about it and Ashover Brew Co. was born...

Our vision is to create beers that are as unique and varied as the people who enjoy them. We want to create beers that are approachable yet complex, with something for every palate. But at the same time, we want to stay true to our local roots - everything we do is inspired by the area’s rich brewing history and the stunning Peak District that surrounds us.

Cask at the Bricklayers Arms Derby Beer Fest. It pours darkest brown, with a thin bubbly beige film. The nose is liquorice allsorts, soy sauce, toasted sesame seed, leather and charcoal. The taste is full of liquorice, charcoal, roasted mal, sour tang, burnt malt, salt and dark dried fruit. Thin to medium body and soft carbonation. A bit too thin and too much liquorice for me.

Cask at GBBF 2010. A pitch black beer with a tan head. The aroma has strong roasted notes combined with medium hoppy notes. The flavor is sweet malty with extremely storng notes of liquorice - too much for me, combined with some roasted malt, leading to a dry, roasted, woody, and liquorice finish.
