Blue Bee was set up in 2010 by Richard Hough, former head brewer at Abbeydale, who has also done stints at Acorn, Crown, Spire, Raw and Marble. Starting his own brewery allows him to use this invaluable experience on his own terms, creating beers that are noted for “quality, consistency and with a slight addiction factor”. In 2014 the business was acquired by Reet Ale Pubs, which runs three pubs in Sheffield.

Cask-conditioned at the Lime Kiln, Bristol November 2023. Near black in colour, with a tight and creamy, beige, head. Plenty of plain chocolate, some liquorice and blueberry sweetness, leading to a charred, toasty, finish. Enjoyable.
