Blue Bee was set up in 2010 by Richard Hough, former head brewer at Abbeydale, who has also done stints at Acorn, Crown, Spire, Raw and Marble. Starting his own brewery allows him to use this invaluable experience on his own terms, creating beers that are noted for “quality, consistency and with a slight addiction factor”. In 2014 the business was acquired by Reet Ale Pubs, which runs three pubs in Sheffield.

Hand pulled half pint at the Wrekin Inn on 12th March 2026. Bright light golden body, white crown. Citrus leanings with a hedgerow berry side line. Not too sure I've had a Karma hoped beer before.

Cask at the Kelham Island Tavern, Sheffield on 6th March 2026. Pale gold with white foam and traveling lace. Sweet fruits and malts in aroma. Rich nutty maltiness and citrus peel in-mouth, and a bittersweet finish. Engaging mouthfeel and plenty of body.

Handpull cask at the Gryphon, Bristol. Dark brown and a little translucent. Uneven beige/khaki head. Malty aroma, light liquorice and blackberry. Sweet taste with a sourness on the comedown. Horehound in the aftertaste. The oddness makes it less enjoyable but its OK all in all.

Cask at Kelham Island Tavern, Sheffield - Deep reddish black, tan lacer. Roasted coffee and malts, some dark chocolate, more toasted bitterness to finish. Pretty good.

Cask at Kelham Island Tavern, Sheffield - Dark brown body, light tan head. Roasted malt in the nose, slightly too light and bland for my palate. Bit of sweetness, that's it.

Third of a pint on cask at the Queen.
Medium creamy white head. Clear golden pour. Light bitterness

At Steel City 49 Festival, Kelham Island - Deepest brown, small white head. Smoky liquorice and sweet roasted malts. Hides ABV well, a little too easy going.

Sheffield CAMRA Beer Festival 2025, Beer#12. Golden-blonde and hoppy, like many in this series. This one has a very light tropical fruitiness behind the more dominant aforementioned.
