Cask (handpump) @ Rat & Ratchet (Ossett), 40 Chapel Hill, West Yorkshire, Huddersfield, England HD1 3EB.Clear medium yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, light to moderate hoppy, citrus. Flavor is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a average to long duration, acrid bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20120121]

Cask with Sarah. Pours a clear pale yellow with a white head that dissipates completely. Aroma has notes of light citrus and grapefruit with underlying earthy grains. Flavor starts with citrus with a hint of grapefruit and a note of backing sweet grains.

Cask at the Red Lion in the Jewelery Quarter, Birmingham. Reddish brown clear pour with a thin white frothy head. A hint of spicy hops in the aroma which pretty much dominates the flavour too. I'm not a fan of red ales, but this example was more than drinkable by virtue of its spicy liqourice palate.

Cask at Shakespeares, Sheffield. Very clear straw yellow pour with a nice white frothy head. Grassy yeasty aroma, with a citrus grassy bitter flavour which hits the palate right away. A very popular ale that’s worth tasting if you are lucky enough to find it.

Gravity dispense at the twelfth Twickenham Beer Festival - 18/10/12. Clear russett brown with a thin bubbly off white head. Biscuit malts on the nose and a hoppy aroma. Tastes of caramel, biscuit, light grapefruit notes, hops. Medium bodied with a bitter dry finish.

5th Sep 2012 and I’m in The Fighting Cocks, Oakengates: the only pub owned by the Ironbridge Brewery. This was one of their guest beers; I had a hand-pulled pint. Light amber body below a full head of white bubbles, looked fine. As the name suggests this is a hop orientated brew; although having tried some American ‘Hop Monsters’, this isn’t in the same league. No where near as bitter or aromatic, but still extremely hoppy for the UK. I am not a huge hop lover but this went down very nicely and I would have had another if I hadn’t been on a mission to try more beers on the night.

Half pint, cask ale at The Hop in Leeds. Good looking with a body that is golden-brown,covered by a decent fawn-coloured head blanketing the top level of the glass. Smell of berries and bread-like malts. Jam-like flavour from a fine blend of dark fruits and dark malts. Dusty hoppy ending. Good (12.07.2012).

Half, cask at The Hop in Leeds. Clear golden body, tiny white head blanketing the glass. Resin-like hops to the nose and leafy hops to the taste buds added by a mild touch of honey. Rounded hop bitter ending. Refreshing (12.07.2012).

Half pint, cask at Duck & Drake in Leeds. Firm creamy, white head. Crystal clear, straw-golden body. Aroma of leafy hops. Dry fruit hoppy taste and nice, bittering hops to the ending. Smooth in the mouth. Summer feel (12.07.2012).
