The story of the Rye River Brewing Company began back in 2013 with the introduction of the McGargles brand. We have grown both our team and our product range since then. Based in Celbridge, Kildare the brewery employs over 40 people. We now produce a range of over twenty beers under the Solas, Crafty Brewing Company, Grafters and McGargles brands

Very small rim held by well-carbonated deep red-amber beer. Quite spicy nose, coloured malts, cookies with (red) fruit filling. Bitter(ish), leafy, German Bock-type malts, rainwater. Caramel makes the finish, but not sweet. Body lacks stamina, good carbonation Far from bad. Somewhere halfway a Vienna and a Bock - but without sweetness and with (probably) top fermentation.

Due to artificial lighting conditions, arbitrary appearance rating Very fruity hops’ nose with citrus, nectarine, bit of ureum, but also green apples. Again fruity-hoppy, citrus with a truckload of resin in the finish. Bit of cookie malts, and markedly, some asafoetida. Feels very spritzily carbonated; medium bodied. Great, in fact. Due to artificial lighting conditions, arbitrary appearance rating Hops, and a grainy aroma as oriental perfumed rice; some lightly coloured malts. Again grain, maybe more rye-like. Dry grain cookies or -biscuits, bit dusty. Hops seem a tad tired. Light body, spritzy carbonation. Not bad, but I have the impression that the New World hops used tired fast. Marigold and lillies aroma. Clear amber, medium head. Grapefruit and orange, cane sugar at midpalate, lemongrass finish. Powdery mouthfeel, medium body, easy carbonation, warm. Probably the least objectionable of the beers I had from this brewer.

Flaske fra Høkeren, på hytta (thanks, Steve!): dyp gylden, let uklar med kort skum i mit nye Orval glas. Overbevisende aroma og smag af tropiske frugter, mandariner og grapefrugt, holdt på plads af en solid maltkrop.

Chocolate, pecan , and elmer’s glue aroma. Mahogany, medium tan head. Creosote, raisins, cardboard. Light body, astringent, easy carbonation.
