Older notes from a trip to NZ, very crisp - liked it quite a bit. Yellow pour whit samll white head. Aromas of bread and malt, same for the taste, bit of grains.

330ml bottle from Beers of Europe: BB 21st Dec 2021. Drank at home on 7th Aug 2021. Poured robustly into an old Hoegaarden Grand Cru tulip glass. Still didn't get much of a head on the amber body. Malty nose and flavour, highly carbonated and semi-bitter from the hop content as they battle against the sweetness of the malts. I can see why the overall scores for this are low, it's pretty basic and uninteresting.

Pint on tap at Jack Tar, Auckland. Crystal clear amber beer with a thin foamy white head. High fine carbonation. Plasticine and biscuit aroma. Good lacing. Taste is crisp, refreshing with a typical euro-Lager finish, sweet malt and tinny hops.

On tap at Essex Arms, Huntly. Brown beer with a thin white head, no aroma. Flat but some lacing. That NZ fizzy sherbet sickly sweet thing going on. Just like Lion Red, DB, etc.

On tap at White Hart Hotel, Hawera. Golden brown with a thin film of suds on top. Light carbonation. Nose of sweet malt. Nice lacing. Medium body, slight fizz. Taste is neutral but finish typical of NZ pub beers. Sickly sweet and stale, veering between cardboard, caramel, and sherbet. Very ordinary beer, very ordinary pub.

330ml can into glass. Pours golden brown with a bubbly white head. Light carbonation. Nose of sweet malt and cooked vegetables. Light body, slight zing. Has that weird sherbet thing going on that NZ mainstream beers have. Finish is watery and caramel sweet . Standard Kiwi pub ale. Obviously designed to be drank in large quantities.

500ml can into glass. Nose of tìn and bubblegum. Pale yellow beer with thin white head. Thin layer of scum on top. Very light carbonation. Neutral taste, slight zing. Finish is sweet riçe and light tin. As an attempt to make a Japanese lager it's spot-on. But why bother?

Bottle found in Tonga, label says brewed by Lion in New Zealand and exported to Tonga. Not sure if one could find it outside of the country. Has an okay gold body with a bit of foam, smells of soft sweet lager hops with a hint of grain. Flavour is average lager and some sweetness. Mouthfeel is a little thin. This is average but drinkable.
