Single from Churchkey to go after it became impossible to grab a seat on a late Monday afternoon. Pint glass back at home. Murky dark brown & garnet highlighted brew with a quick to recede cookie dough head. Charred toast, burnt brown sugar, slightly vinous nose. Upfront dark berry over a dirty chai sort of woody soot. Lingering ash, slight herbal bite on the tail. Fizzy, thin & calcified. Just okay.

Ever so slightly hazy golden and light straw coloured body with a large-bubbled, soapy off-white head that's two centimetres tall at the start, but fades to a thin layer after a minute or so. Aroma of lemons, cleanser, grass, hay and some fruity candy with a subdued malt scent and no alcohol in the nose at all. Light-bodied; Very crisp and grassy flavours show at first with a ton of aspartame and fake sugar flavours throughout that brings out some dryness from hay and flowers along with a hint of melons and limes at the end, but no malt depth either. Aftertaste is dry, very thin and crisp, with a light kick of the aspartame and citrus flavours with some breadiness and not much else aside from the soft malts. Overall, a very subdued, grassy and floral APA with the funky aspartame and fake sugar notes and strong breadiness that doesn't help out on the complexity, but amplify the funkiness. Nice enough to try once locally, but that's enough for me, and maybe you should pass on this altogether! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Trader Joe's in Washington (West End/Georgetown), D.C. purchased on 12-June-2022 for US$3,00 sampled at my house here in Washington on 17-June-2022, just five days after purchase.

Pleasant black lager. Roast and some hint of citrus. Black pour without much head. Crisp bitter finish with a little coffee. I like this a little better than their other beer. Good summer dark beer. Tap at Pizza Paradise.
