Description
The history of Rhug, can be split into chapters – the first is the largest and spans from earliest times to coming into the hands of the Salusbury family of Bachymbyd. Rhug was then left to the Vaughan family of Nannau and finally it came into the Wynn family in the 19th century, and so to the present Lord Newborough.

100ml sample courtesy of danlo. Thanks, Ed. It's really, really light, almost midnight clear. Sweet, herbal, a little meaty and spicy honey. Taste is sweet, herbal with sweet spice, followed buy a surprisingly bitter downturn. Medium to thick body. A different sort of mead, not too bad.

1/9/2024. Bottle shared by danlo, cheers Ed! Pours clear very pale gold with a few bubbles. Aroma is pure honey, floral, heather, touch of petroleum. Very sweet, moderate bitterness. Medium body, sticky syrupy mouthfeel, no carbonation. Quite enjoyable.

500ml bottle from Rhug Estate Farm Shop. Clear very pale yellow gold colour, no head and aroma of honey, flowery, heather, spice. Taste is sweet, honey, syrupy, floral, with some heathery, spicy hints and booze. Syrupy mouthfeel, full bodied, low carbonation, lingering sweet honey finish. Nicely sippable.
