Very dark brown with thin creamy head. Pleasant notes of dark malt, coffee and chocolate. Could be slightly more bitter.

Panda from Low Cost Beer. Appearance - dark brown with definite reddish elements. Foamy, off-white head. Nose - caramel and toffee, with sweet chocolate, maybe some hazelnut. Taste - burnt toffee, wood, molasses and Blackjacks. Palate - medium bodied, sweet and roasty at the same time. Overall - good stuff.

Cask at Alexandra, Derby. Pours a slightly hazy golden amber with a small off-white head and good lacing. There’s a muted aroma of floral hops and apples. In the mouth it varies between slightly sweet and quite bitter. Initially malts are to the fore in the flavour, but these are soon ousted by floral hops, with marmalade, mango, autumn fruits and a trace of honey. Sweetness returns at the finish. It’s reasonable.

Cask @ Arthur's of Churchtown, Southport (formerly Peaky Blinders). Yellow-blonde with a creamy-frothy head. Hoppy session brew. Possibly just on the turn when I had it, or its citrus influence gives that impression.

Keg @ D'Ale House, Rochdale. Green-gold with a small head. Sour in taste, but its plum comes to the fore in both aroma and aftertaste.

Cask @ Loom & Shuttle (formerly Caskbar), Darwen. Hazy light golden with a glow and a creamy head. Easy strength with a good body. Has a hoppy bitterness, but low in the latter aspect and a hint of non tropical fruit.

Cask at Furnace, Derby. Pours almost black with minimal off-white head. There’s malts and milky coffee in the aroma. Roast malts again in the mouth, but they are outshone by a fairly intense burst of liquorice. Hints to of vanilla, lactose and coffee – even some chocolate coming through later. Finish is slightly dry. This is quite nice.
