Can from LCB, 8 months still in date. Pours a dark brown with small consistent beige to tanned head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and brown bread. Taste of roasted malt, dark fruits, coffee. Moderate sweetness and then a drying ash on the palate. Bitter finish with a hint of an earthy-medicinal aftertaste. Fairly smooth medium palate. Enjoyable.

Can from LCB, 5 months still in date. Pours black with small beige head, minor retention. Aroma of chocolate biscuits, dark malts, brown sugar, hint of blackcurrant. Taste of toffee, biscuit, cinnamon, charred brown sugar. A touch too sweet, near medium bodied, moderate carbonation. It's ok, although I was expecting better.

Can from LCB, 8 months still in date. Pours near black with small beige head. Aroma is sweet with mostly chocolate but also dark malts and hint of hazelnuts and coffee beans. Taste of chocolate flavouring, some nuts, dark malts. Sweet with a modest roasty bitterness which prevents it being sickly. Medium bodied, slick. A little sweet and limited but quite nice. However, according to the blurb on the can this was brewed with 7 different malts and then they stick so much chocolate flavouring and lactose in to make that rather irrelevant. This is a chocolate beer and any malt complexity is masked.

Can from LCB, 7 months still in date. Dark brown colour with small beige top. Quite a sweet aroma with dark malt, chocolate, cookies, vanilla. Taste is the same, modest bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel. Decent, maybe a touch one dimensional.

Can from LCB, 7 months in date. Pours black with thin beige head. Aroma of chocolate, dark malts, lactose, slight dustiness and berry. Taste is the same but more balanced than some of the flavoured stouts and porters I've had from this brewery recently. Its sweet but not overdone and the fruity element works well here.

Can from Morrisons. Hazy gold, thick white head. Aroma of grains, grape, mango, sharp citrus. Taste of grapefruit, sour citrus, grains, hint of caramel, herbal. Medium bodied, soft mouthfeel. Good.
