I have a new neighbour moving into the house next to me today, not your everyday occurrence, but interesting when you are used to the status quo. This one came out of the can a little lively despite it sitting in my fridge for the last month since bringing it back from Scarborough. Sweet tropical fruit nose, similar in taste but perhaps not quite as sweet. Very crisp, smoothish texture.

Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small scummy cream head and good lacing. There’s malts and coffee in the aroma. In the mouth it is slightly sweet with roasted malts and dark fruits to the fore. Also plums and coffee with hints of chocolate and cola coming later. A little bitterness in the finish. This is decent.

I won't be drinking on St Patrick's Day this year, which falls on a Monday, which got me thinking if this day is statistically the worst day of the week for it to fall on for pubs outside of Ireland??? This dry Irish stout, which is quite floral alongside coffee notes is my celebration.

Although not technically a beer within the Wetherspoon Spring Beer Festival 2025, it was still on the pumps at the start of it so grabbed a third of this one too. Easy coffee and chocolate notes, with this flavour complimented by a good body, and includes a mild sweetness.
